Let's see if he signs a new contract. Or, at 33, maybe best to let him go? But whilst he's a good goalkeeper, nobody would want him as Palace’s no 1 next season

This whole Sorloth stuff we have looked like complete rookies again. The loan club can purchase him for under 6m and with lots going about they may do that and sell him on for double. This guy should of been give a shot or loan him to English/Scottish team. I bet the loan deal has no recall either otherwise you would of thought we would use it when we had injuries.

No recall and after certain amount of games played compulsory purchase price of around 6m. Best we can hope for is a injury to prohibit games played in order to get him back for the lash year of his contract and possibly sell on. That being said, 6m will not be unwelcomed in the current climate. Management clearly didn’t rate him to sanction the deal.

This is all very old news and very old belly aching. Thank god we have such a great business savvy chairman and director of football.

The bloke was s***e. The reason he wasn't loaned out with an option to bring him back is simply because the club didn't want him back. There is nothing silly about it. He was loaned out to Belgian league and was s***e then the club decided to get rid of him. Nobody wanted to buy him so it was decided to give him to Trobzonspor on these terms. It has happened a million times in football and will happen a million more. When have you ever seen a club sell a player then 6 months later saying actually no we want him back. He was sold never to return again.Forget him and move on with your lives.

If he was s**t why has he just scored 44 goals in 40 games now don't state its because of the league because if someone was truly awful doesn't matter the league he would be just that awful. He was never given a fair run here. It's like they expected him to walk into to club and score 15 a season straight away plus again Roy wasn't even using him when he did on rare occasions correctly. We don't know what happened in Belgium you are just guessing he had been dealing with injury problems maybe that was part of the issue. No one mentioned about selling him they stated loan which their is no way you are telling me if you offered him to lower English or even Scottish leagues people wouldn't take him Sheff took Wickham so that sums it up doesn't it. He hasn't been sold so not sure why you are stating this it's a 2 year loan with a buy out clause which they have not triggered plus they have just gotten in trouble with FFP. They will purchase him if interest rumors are true for peanuts 6m and get double so Palace who paid 9m upfront with extras going to 16m plus % goes to his former club so it will be about 4m if lucky have done terrible business again.

So they get a %age of the whole fee, not just of the excess over what we paid?

I tend to agree with most of your post. Their is pressure to hit the ground running and if I remember judgements were made on him to quickly. I thought he was technically a good player and really it comes down to man management if he wasn't encouraged enough or made to feel wanted, as he seems to have made clear A lot of managers have problems integrating players who may have been signed by scouts and that they personally were not involved with. Jose at Chelsea with Salah, Debruyne, Moses - didn't fancy any of them but they all went onto win the league. You could say Parish could have mediated with Roy but maybe his judgement was that he wasn't up to it.
Maybe somebody at the club could mediate with him through his agent. See where he is at. The club cannot apparently buy him with FFP, so in a state of limbo

If we want him back (and that is a big if), we could talk to him and his advisors and persuade him that he has a future at Palace and promise him more game time etc. Even with Sales Clause He would still have to agree to permanent transfer to Turkey and /or could make it plain he wants to return to EPL and Palace

The fact that he has gone on to score goals in Turkey is great for him but nothing we can do about it, as I said in my previous dumb post this has happened a million times in football and will happen a million more.

I think it’s easy to look in hindsight and make a decision on whether it was a good or a bad deal. If we look back to when the deal was actually agreed there was not too much noise around it being poor business. I agree with the poster above, we all saw him play. A team in belgium saw him play and no one saw him having the season he has had in Turkey. 4-5m seemed like a good deal to cut our losses and move on. Fair play to the Turkish club for taking him on. If we were linked with a 5m guy who had scored no goals in a brief spell in the premier league and 1-2 in a loan spell at a belgium club, I would see more questions being thrown at dougie’s door. I personally don’t know how he has scored this many goals and stand by that he showed nothing in the games I saw him play. But his numbers do not lie. Chelsea got rid of Salah and KdB. Happens all the time. We just need to move on from this one unfortunately. I don’t recall us selling cheaply too many players who have then gone on to exceed expectations. (I mean us releasing players or selling players we felt surplus to requirements)
