I honestly think buying benteke and sakho has left a bad taste in the yankees mouths (which I can’t really blame them for) so over cautious from them is clearly the order of the day for each and every transfer window

Benteke kept us up in his first season so probs justified his fee there alone. Since then of course he’s been utterly s***. And sakho played a huge part in us staying up when on loan but has been average since signing. Either way, not disastrous.

So god knows why they are reluctant to spend. It’s awful though knowing that it’s unlikely we’re gonna pay for a player this window and instead have to rely on a loanee yet again. We’ve needed a striker for two years, a winger since bolasie left and a right back since last summer. None of these have been purchased and won’t be any time soon I doubt

Why would someone prefer Nurray to Tosun?

Beyond nostalgia and the fan misjudgement that comes from watching Murray in 100 matches more than actually watching Tosun, there would be nothing a person could say to make a case for Murray being better.

Murray- 35 years old, his feet are old, can't really come back fast or press anymore, if we exclude penalties in the last 2 years he doesn't even have that good of a tally for Brighton- 17 goals in 5200 minutes in the PL and 5 goals in 350 minutes in Cup.matches.

Cenk Tosun-28 years old, Turkish international and top scorer for his country, can run a lot, 9 goals and 3 assists in 2300 minutes in the PL (almost as much as Murray in 5100 minutes!!), 1 goal and 3 assists in 200 minutes in Cup matches, 11 goals and 5 assists in the meantime at international level (since he came to the PL, not even counting how much he scored for Turkey or in the Chanpions League before that).

Cost 22 million 2 years ago, now he's to come on LOAN with just a 10 million option (if this guy is right. Now that's awesome business for a player like Tosun!

Tosun is on £110m a week with 3 years left on his contract, seems a good reason to give him a swerve.

According to the Guardian Milan’s Krzysztof Piatek has already rejected us.

[Link]

This might be rubbish or the old David O'Leary not interested in a job he wasn't offered syndrome but if not seems like we are being ambitious and looking beyond old targets.

Perhaps also we could have a new header to go with suggested, rumour etc (already rejected).

Piatek is a fine player, but there's gonna be a 30 million buy-out clause.

There are 2 possible scenarios:

1. He is good (like Batshuayi or better) and you can't pay that money, therefore next seasons you have a squad which has to adapt to ANOTHER forward. Which we kind of did this season, with the result of scoring the least goals so far. That's what screwing up a squad gets. That's why it's not good bringing in players whom you can't buy

2. You pay for him 30-35 million (Milan paid 35, I imagine they want to AT LEAST recoup, they usually want profit)- then you're a lot poorer and you could have found a similar forward for half that money.

Bt hey, when you're in the Premier League and gonna get Zaha money....what's 30 million?

If we have no one on the way one week into the window that is pretty poor.
We were short anyway, on our knees now and Roy has been more vocal than ever about the situation so someone needs to step up and quickly!

If we sign one player that will at least be something.

Really can't see us signing any more than 2 and would be shocked if that did happen.

I'm sincerely starting to resent transfer windows atm as it only serves to heighten frustrations at our club when in actual fact they are a non event for us.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

One or two?? We hardly have any players left not on walking frames. That’s on top of failing to strengthen in key positions last window. Unless you want Parish as sweeper, Roy in midfield, Freedman up front and my grannie in goal, you better hope it’s more than one or two.

I have a feeling this window will go the same way as the summer one and we’ll maybe end up with a free agent and maybe a loan player and hopefully we keep wilf but who knows .....?

I know it's just been a week of the window, but that is 25% of our time !

Where is Rakip when you need him ?!

Tosun deal looks dead (good), Bowen was linked which was exciting and Michy will roll until deadline day I am sure.

I understand clubs need to line up other players, much like buying a house, but we really need bodies ASAP.
