No absolutely not I made that decision when they arrested the Australian backpackers. It's one thing for a British dual national who may or may not be interfering in politics but when they start arresting simple tourists that's it for now. It's a real pity because Iran is a beautiful country with fabulous cultural sites and apparently friendly locals. All I can do is add to a long list of other countries I won't be visiting any time soon. It's sad but that region is going backwards my lady friend has visited all over the middle east but now so many of those places are no go for now. Yep, perhaps when Iran can make its way back to before the revolution things can change.....but it's probably not going to happen for quite a while. But we know that secular Iranians and secular Muslims exist in significant numbers in Iran....if not officially and for them the last forty odd years have been disastrous. Has anyone seen the video of the Iranian bombs coming down near the US air base. Really strange noise and looks very powerful.

Media reports that it was Iran who shot down the plane.

If it's accurate lets see how Iran respond. In 1988 the US mistakenly shot down Iran Air Flight 655 and while I think the initial response by the state and US media was poor and regrettable.....It should be remembered that Reagen admitted what had happened and wrote to the Iranians stating 'deep regret' over the incident. in 1996 the US agreed to pay US.8 million on an ex gratia basis, amounting to 3,103.45 per passenger, in compensation to the families of the Iranian victims. Lets see how Iran deals with this.....though it doesn't look good because if it's true they have started off with lies. Edited by Stirlingsays (09 Jan 2020 6.29pm)

Edited by Stirlingsays (09 Jan 2020 6.29pm) Waiting to see what Iran says next will be interesting. They've now killed British civilians, with Russian made missiles. Possibly people who are fleeing the country after foreign office warnings to leave. It's possible to make the narrative look very, very bad for Iran.
