Cheers! I've heard a fair amount about it, but somehow never seen City of God. Will give it a watch. I'm not averse to foreign films of various genres. Let the Right One In, Time Crimes, Train to Busan.. For emphasis, I am, generally as my attention span is ridiculous enough as it is! Brilliant film though this one, makes you forget its subtitled at all.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Apparently 50% of the firms that have taken part in the 4 day week trial intend to continue when it ends shortly. Good news for those workers. However a note of caution these firms all volunteered so they were already disposed to the idea, hardly an unbiased group then. Apparently productivity has not suffered but I guess it depends on how easy you can measure that. If your job is to manufacture 1000 widgets per week that should not be hard to measure. Of course if you can do it easily in 4 days maybe your firm has set the bar too low. Most people who work in an office or even a supermarket it's difficult to measure productivity accurately as you will deal with all sorts of of different and unexpected things. For instance when I worked in an supermarket I might spend 30 mins dealing with one customer e.g. helping a handicapped person do their shopping, not very productive but essential customer service and good will. Anyway it looks like the idea is not going away and as long as it is up to each company I am fine with that.

Found this and it put a smile on my face this Monday morning. Nice to read something positive on the news for once, and perhaps on the N & P thread too...

It is of course scarce these days but I like to keep this thread going, especially given some of the conflict n N&P sometimes, and this one’s a real heart warmer:
