I also think we will be fine.

We wont be setting the world alight but we will manage a mid to low end of the table.

If Wilf gets his head straight I agree, big if. We are going into the season with strikers who can't score and our main player unhappy.

Roy has his work cut out.

I agree, I can’t believe we have to place our faith in a player who doesn’t want to play for us. Only Palace could get themselves in this situation.

He deserves all our sympathy. Whilst he annoys me at times regarding subs, he has been royally let down by the board. He will leave next summer and I hope enjoys a long and happy tretirement

The strategy seems to be try and scrape by this season with no plan other than short term.
If you take a similar sized club e.g Watford they already have Deeney, Gray, Success and Okaka as strikers with Delofeu, Pereira and Gray in the wide areas.
They’ve just purchased Sarr and Wellbeck even though they are well covered in attacking areas.
We’ve taken £45 million in on AWB and in attack have only purchased Ayew at £2.5 m because he was cheap.
I think we may just have enough to survive but if you thought last season was bad at home wait until this season.
Four/five central midfielders strung across the park with lots of sideways/ backwards passing.
Very odd as Parish has always seemed a progressive guy and has asked the fans to aim high with aspirations for the club, but there now appears to be a crippling lack of ambition.

The problem now is that most of the clubs that finished below us and who had taken points off, are now stronger.

Some good posts all round and I find myself agreeing with points made on both sides of the argument.

For me I am pleased with the business that we’ve done, bringing in those that we have and also all of the outgoings. I think we could also have let Scott Dann go (with our absolute thanks and best wishes) and I was also open to even Connor Wickham but not as it turns out, due to our lack of business in this area.

I do think however, it is criminal that we haven’t strengthened with a top quality RB. I just cannot understand this, yes it may have been that we tried but just couldn’t get the right deal but I do find it bizarre, especially considering the amount of very decent RB’s we were linked with.

I am also disappointed that we didn’t buy one of our Centre Forward targets because as has already been said, teams around us have done some very good business and have definitely picked up some real gems in key positions, players that we should have been going after ourselves.

I am just really concerned that our lack of business in this window will find us out big time next summer when we find ourselves in an even more desperate situation for a new striker (plus a new winger) and a RB. I think we will stay up....just, but we will be being totally screwed over for any transfer targets we try to sign as by then we will be in such a desperate position and everyone will know it.

And ultimately (and more worryingly) our obvious lack of ANY decent scouting structure or systems will undoubtedly be our total undoing further down the line and has to be put right or we’re goosed.

AWB was exceptional with players coming at him only, supply to our attackers has been a much bigger problem that the new players coming in can have a much bigger impact on, everyone calm down and give the team ten games before panicking.

This is how i see it. The Yanks want their money back. They probably took most of the AWB fee and wanted most of the Wilf money too so Parish pulled the transfer because we would have had no Wilf and no replacement either. The quicker they are out of the club the better.

They can't get there investment back, they have to sell their shares to do that, they are entitled to ask for any loans to be repaid, there might be conditions here as to how the loans were constructed.
They obviously won't make any more money available.

Think we have become the poor relations in the premier league .

Most teams spent more than us.

We have probably one of the worse ground in the PL but it seems the owners just want to survive each season and that’s their goal each season.

Think Zaha will be gone in January.

Can’t see to excited with the coming season as I think it will be tough for us.

Think it’s only a matter of time before we get relegated.

£43 million up and that doesn’t take in to account any of the £100m TV money we haven’t spent.

Considering normally we spend £30m on players we’re actually £73m better off...

Do you think our players, play for nothing

We are relying on Christian Benteke to score goals for us. All we are doing is hoping for a miraculous 360 that he recovers from his state of amnesia and remembers he is a top international striker. He has literally fallen off a cliff. I do not subscribe to the fact we don’t play to his strengths he’s had plenty of opportunities but squandered nearly all. We are also relying on Joel Ward, god bless him till January at the very least. The new season optimism with these two areas will be smacked full front in the chops very quickly.

I like Camarasa and Cahill signings but this won’t be enough, another season of struggle. Sigh
