I think it’s evident what Freedman’s role is in terms of cost reduction.
We’ve lost Puncheon, Speroni,Williams,Kai Kai,Sako,Mutch, Soare and I doubt we’ll see Jach in a Palace shirt again.
Riedewald and Sorloth will presumably prove more difficult to shift as we won’t find clubs willing to pay their wages or pay the required fees.
Freeedman’s role on the recruitment side is less evident and it looks like we’re in for another bargain basement last minute scramble this window.
I suppose it’s a potential problem to spend a significant amount on players that Hodgson may want if he’s only around one more season.
A new manager may not want these players.
We found this to our cost with Riedewald after De Boer brought him in but he’s not been used since De Boer left.
This is where you hope there is some strategic planning with Freedman working with Parish to look after the club’s long term interests.

And the academy award for comedic optimism goes to.....

None of us really know if Dougie Freedman is solely responsible. He may well be producing targets all the time, but Steve Parish won't agree to the fee or the management are not interested in the player, who knows?? How much clout does Dougie have?

I was about to post the very same suggestion. For all we know Dougie may be a very frustrated fella seeing all his suggestions and recommendations being batted away by Parish.

Roy has used Riedewald, he played against Man City at Selhurst and he played really well. We drew 0-0 and Luka missed a last minute penalty.

Yep, none of us know anything yet lets persistantly make excuses for the fact that Freedman does not appear to do anything and since taking over the handling of transfers from Parish we were promised a smoother, quicker process when bringing players in. If anything it takes longer!

If we we frustrate him enough he might leave for Bolton again. Hopefully.

Really bizarre where people allocate blame based on f*** all evidence.

Jairo was undeniably a De Boer signing - nothing to do with a Freedman.

Sorloth, from what I remember at the time, was recommended from Hodgson’s Scandinavian network. Happy to be corrected on that.

Meyer and Guita were both, objectively, excellent recruitment - I don’t know if Freedman was involved or not, but the policy of blaming him for every bad one, whilst claiming none of the good ones are anything to do with him, is just strange.

A lot of people haven’t forgotten when he ‘wouldn’t leave the job unfinished’ then f*cked off to Bolton. He came back to us as it was the only available job in football after he’d failed everywhere else.

He might not be as bad at his job as people say, but he used up any’ points in the bank’ that he had with us from his playing days, because of the way he left.

Yes it does leave one feeling bad about how DF left, he was doing brilliantly as Palace manager before then. But now he’s back in a recruiting role, presumably to help us get in good players who fit our profile at a decent price. Hodgson knows what players he wants that fit the squad. It’s a tricky time for Palace with an ageing squad who need replacement with younger players who are also better quality, brought in without breaking the bank. I honestly think that the only time we can begin to judge how well he’s done is when the transfer season is over and the new players begin to bed into the squad. Obviously the earlier these players come in the better in terms of preseason etc, but at this stage I think we just need to be patient....boring Iknow!

Well based on your point of view then Roy is only to blame some of the time when we lose. Rubbish. The buck stops with him. Rightly or wrongly he is up there to be shot at.
He's paid a lot of money. 1. EARN it, 2. ACCEPT THE BLAME when you do a s*** job like the rest of us do.

If you’re self employed I hope you don’t write your own advertising.
