But Liverpool saw something in him ,and was doing quite well for them before injury. If and big if ? over his injury would be be a low risk gamble if low fee involved ,even as cover for ward .

Dougie, Shipperley, Derry, Hopkin ....lots have done well coming back, but yes lots havent as well

Clyne is 29 in April.

So many on here bleating about having an ageing squad, well Clyne would be adding to that and his understudy, Ward will be 30.

Forget Clyne and get in a young player with potential.

If Norwich go down, then Aarons could be available. I think we were linked with him before.

If we can't wait until the summer then a short term loan could be the way to go.

Looking at people like Alexander-Arnold, AWB, Rice, Abrahams, we need to get more of our young players out of the Academy and into the first team. Give consideration to gentle introductions - as Rooney enjoyed - and let our fearless young men go for it. If Mr Lineker does not see then playing he cannot become gobsmacked (which is tempting - as is the joy of two or three of our youth fledging so well that Palace matches become first on MOTD). On a academy commented to death elsewhere on here.

Reece James on loan with no chance of signing him in the summer

2x full backs on loan and money spent on a striker is what I think.

Wouldn’t surprise me at all if we went back in for Clyne on loan for the rest of the season. This would suit all parties.

A mobile, young striker is something I think Roy and the board will all recognise we need to invest in and maybe go back in for Chalov.

As for left back, again, a loan for a young player who a bigger club classes as a ‘prospect’ might happen. I don’t know any but Chelsea will no doubt have one we could borrow!

I can't agree that Hopkin did well on his return. A great disappointment compared with the player we'd all enjoyed watching first time round.

Clyne is injured long term anyway according to the Physio Room so nothing doing there!

And that isn't even the biggest problem with Clyne. Had his head turned at big clubs and has to have the lifestyle to go with it. A problematic team player these days. Will be free at the end of the season as he does not fit in to any work ethic.
