I see the point you are making.

Rightly or wrongly I don't get the impression that Parish is a reluctant day-to-day controller who has an over-riding desire to relinquish his reponsibilities ! Quite the oppposite, with Parish delighted to be in the limelight and increasing his profile ! But of course I might be totally wrong.

I think the other three were reluctant but SP definitely sees it as being a chance for celebrity and enjoys being involved. It would take a very large shoehorn to remove him.

I think he is doing a good job and when we look back in ten years time we will view this period as 'the good old days' and wonder what anyone had to complain about.

I am intrigued. That begs the question why would he give wolves and bournemouth, but not the other four, while at the same time excluding palace?

Makes no sense...

He mentioned it in passing on the day Bournemouth signed Solanki. He wasn't withholding info, just couldn't remember off the top of his head. It's not really of interest to him. His job gives him access to this type of info.

I specifically asked him about Palace and he said that we're not one of them.

A guy I know, who claims to have some inside info on the finances recently told me that there are currently six Premier League clubs who are on the brink of collapse if they are relegated in the next 5 seasons. Two are Wolves and Bournemouth, he didn’t give me the others. Palace are not one.

It could be BS, just passing on what I was told from a reliable source.

I cannot see how this know it all (sorry, guy you know) could possibly know that without having full insider knowledge of all of these 5 clubs. If he did I'd bet the remaining 15 Prem clubs would pay him handsomely for his knowledge on the opposition. When competing for a transfer target for example its quite handy knowing your rival is 'on the bring of collapse'!
Rubbish

How Bournemouth continue to spend as they do is beyond me. Even with TV money, with their gates it just can't be sustainable.

They are backed by a reclusive Russian billionaire who is worth more than Abramovic. Which is why the poster who claims they are 'on the brink of collapse' (correction-his mate told him they were, is talking rubbish.
Bournemouth are a small club so will never be able to attract the worlds best players. But...They have the finances to compete with anyone.

There is but the breach in FFP would have to be massive to justify such a punishment and should it be meted out I'd guess said club would fight it all the way (and be supported by all the other overspending clubs that will become twitchy they might be in line the the same punishment.
In short, it would be a very difficult penalty to enforce

We're permanently "on the brink of collapse" if the Brighton/Scouse accounting wizard is to be believed, and that's without the complication of relegation. And for his fans, he keeps questioning why he can't see £100m in cash, ringfenced in our accounts; now that is truly moronic

As I said in my post, it could be BS but I’ve no reason to distrust the info. He’s an MD in a financial services company and works with Premier League clubs. It was something he mentioned in passing after hearing about the Solanki deal. It’s also probably info he shouldn’t be sharing, but did.

Anyway, I trust it to be accurate, which is that Palace are not in financial trouble whereas quite a few prem clubs are (if they go down).

Just something I heard and thought I’d share as there was a thread on it. Take or leave it. I’ve nothing else to add to the thread really.

there is no danger of admin or FFP judging by the last set of accounts - profit made - little debt - £15m cash in the bank - previous director loans of £6m repaid - though directors made a further capital injection of £21m that is not huge for the Premier League

these accounts now lag well behind as the £21m represent Sam's window spending on Milo, Schlupp and van Aanholt

the very high wages to turnover reported (78%) are a big problem that is presumably going to be even worse in the next set of accounts due out next month as they will have Sakho's wages added amongst others (not Wilf's latest deal though - you'll need to wait until 2020 to see the impact of those on the figures)

spending so little in the last three windows shows that FFP issues are highly unlikely as the owners are not continually investing new capital (unlike the crazy stuff happening at Bournemouth). Admin is not on the cards because there is such little debt and cash flow is good. Assuming no relegation of course - though with parachute payments and some very saleable players that wouldn't be immediately life threatening.

All the super secret Delaware stuff represents the deal made between Parish and the Americans. That doesn't directly affect the financial results but of course those contracts represent who has the power over the finances (and new stadium) and how the financial decisions are made.

Since speculation is fun I think Parish didn't quite get the deal he expected and he is not running the club exactly how he wants - perhaps because the Americans want to sell or have loans repaid first or perhaps they are just prudent. Why not when you get such a low return on a risky and expensive player like Sorloth? Maybe Blitzer / Harris don't trust the current managements scouting and deal making ability any more than many on here.

We should stay up and if so the last three transfer windows should have stabilised the club finances and put us in a good position. Still have to find a way to sign the right players on the right wages though.

Tottenham could be one of 5 clubs that would implode financially if they got relegated since they are heading towards a billion pounds spent on a new stadium and the funding of that is going to hurt them a lot

obviously they are not going to get relegated but they really need Champions League football to keep their cash flow healthy

no surprise they are spending zero pounds right now on transfers - it tells it's own story just as our low expenditure tells ours - but they are completely different stories

too true - the £100m is important in the long term to build the stand, raise the capacity and increase our yearly revenues but it is not immediately relevant to Palace as a going concern. I don't doubt there are some stresses between the owners and the next set of financial results may give the 'wizard' a bit more fuel for his argument but the measures have already been taken to rectify the issues - ie spending very little and moving on the non essential squad players.

Brighton will soon be facing the same issues that we have had. Namely if you are not a very big club who gets promoted and you stay up it is easy to make profits for a couple of years. But as the players who got you there need to be upgraded and replaced the transfer fees and wage costs needed to attract sufficient quality escalate dramatically until very soon 80% of your turnover is going to the players leaving you little money for everything else let alone new transfers as even the deepest pockets run dry eventually (see Bolton as a prime example)

We have scraped through so far - Brighton are not immune from facing similar financial challenges in the next few years

Thanks Mileend, I've been looking at the accounts and trying to work them out. So in 2016/17 we made a pre tax profit of £12m. I'm assuming it does include all the transfer spend or £104m, does it exclude the £32m that appears in section 15 creditors amount falling with in one year.
