I wouldn't choose to use those words but I do believe there is a growing chorus of execration apropos our plight and Messrs Parish and Hodgson. There we go with the thesaurus again. The Burnley game is huge, unless we can get a result against United, which let’s face it, is the Peter Crouch of tall orders. If we have a poor December then there will be enormous pressure on Hodgson to go and on Parish to dig deep for the new manager. However, there is no way SP fires RH unless the yanks demand it. Starting to get a bad feeling about this season and wondering is this the one where it all comes crashing down. I still believe Hodgson can turn this around but it is our recruitment lately has been very damaging to our plight.

So we can all stop dropping into the depths of despair when we lose. Even if we get a shock result, the Burnley game is still huge. I do not share your despair, I think we will be Ok. But anyone who expected us to do well this season (I always thought we would be at the right end of a relegation battle) will be sorely disappointed. I agree with the recruitment. I happen to think that we need to sort the business side of things out, which is where we are struggling. The recruitment is poor, the treatment of the fans seems pretty poor, the churn of managers, injuries etc. It just always feels like we are a Championship business punching above our weight, whereas Brighton for example feels like a Premiership business becoming established in the league. That bit is the surprise because we are run by successful businessmen, but we will never stop being a lower mid-table side until we sort that out.

Fulham have sacked the manager and now have Ranieri in charge. Will he save them? I think he'll do well and they may just stay up now...

Claudio Raneiri now in charge at Fulham should see them pull clear of bottom 3 leaving us Huddersfield and Cardiff in bottom 3 by the new year unless Parish performs big in the upcoming window.

However, I don't think we are "sacrificing the cups for the money", I don't think that the cups are a reasonable aspiration. Getting ourselves into one of the ten worst teams in the league has got to be our next mission.

In my post earlier I was suggesting that we are amongst the 3 worst teams. Unless we start picking up points at home we are done for. We've clung on to Prem status by good fortune rather than good planning and Parish has learnt nothing these past seasons apart to dream of a new stand that most likely won't be built.

Well let’s not get carried away You are spot on though. If we don’t start to perform at home, and if we don’t start to get results vs teams in and around us we are done for. We have stayed up this long in spite of Parish, in many ways, rather than down to him. Now I am reading Allardyce made some comments about personal issues with SP as to why he really left. Parish has learnt from that first transfer window but he hasn’t learnt enough, and not quick enough. I am a broken record but the hiring of FDB doesn’t just show someone who had a bad few weeks but it shows SP is so clueless with many of the big decisions he makes.

Think this is the season we will run out of luck unless SP is willing to back Roy, for once,in the window and a fully motivated Benteke returns very soon to score the goals we so desperately need.
