I wasn't being critical. I was just commenting on how a lot of supporters will view the signings of what they will deem 'Unknown' players from lesser leagues. As opposed to other clubs in a relegation battle who have signed established players. Time will tell if the 'Window' was good or bad I suppose.Hodgson talked about more additions than we have actually got and we missed some of our targets. This is very disappointing. Edited by Willo (01 Feb 2018 1.02am) No, I didn't think you were being critical, I was just responding to your initial comment. As you say, we probably have to wait and see but this is a little bit frustrating to some.

Riedewald, Lee and other squad players have a chance that they probably wouldn’t to make an impact because of certain deals collapsing. We have a genuine striker to give Christian competition and we have some cover in defence and midfield which is what we needed. Sakho is back, and hopefully some more bodies will be recovering in the next couple of weeks. Not the best transfer window, the goalkeeper is the biggest blow. I wanted four players including a keeper and we got 3. It’s not ideal but we at least have cover up top and should have enough fit players to name a 25.

On second thoughts, a poor window would see Zaha being sold. A bit of perspective is needed sometimes. That would depend on what you did with the money. I wouldn't be too happy if I were a Saints fan given that they fleeced the bin dippers to the tune of £75m for a somewhat ordinary centre-back and didn't put much of that money back into the squad. Having said that if we sold Wilf we'd have our work cut out finding anyone who could replace him so yes, God forbid.

I missed keeping up with what was going on in final hours and now just catching up. I am shocked we have done nothing really Roy stated he needs bodies and again we do nothing and the ones we have in are loans or super cheap guys with no top league experience. I never thought we could get any worse in the way we did past transfer windows but this is a joke. To move forward we need to get rid off the current owners they would rather spend more time/money on this new stand then what really matters.

Debating what happened with Niasse doesn’t do much good, and the fact remains that until everyone in the room sits down and goes on the record as to what happened, it’s not confirmed. Let me type what I am trying to say. Not signing a goalkeeper last window was pretty terrible from Parish and co, but not signing one this time around is absolutely criminal. The manager went on the record several times about the need for a goalie, as you need 3 - some might say that’s code for “I don’t like the 2 I have”. I cannot comprehend how Parish and co could go into this window, and not come out of it having signed a goalkeeper, it is beyond belief. It is very, very poor to not have got a keeper in during the last 2 windows. I wish we would not see this kind of poor performance from Parish but it happens time and again with transfers and managers. Oh and the OP has it wrong, its not Parish's ego which is the problem, its that he is god awful at transfers and hiring and managing managers - 2 kind of important areas. Edited by Maine Eagle (01 Feb 2018 1.05am) The goalkeeper you talk of, is he to be better than Wayne or just another Goalkeeper.?

So funny to see so many comments about how the club should have done 'this or 'that' to secure deals and not wait until last minute etc. Nobody here knows anything about any of the negotiations and what any of the reasons are that certain players didn't join the club. Only the club management have those details. Three new signings and many still moaning showing how clueless they really are. Still, it's great entertainment to watch so many get so stressed and act like children over what at the end of the day is a few games of football, quite remarkable

Its so easy to be critical on acquisitions when the "playing field" is so competitive and dynamic, but I will chime in, because I have done M&A all my life... Frankly from the outside this looks like a total shambles. The targets in terms of positions were made so clear by management and so those responsible have failed miserably in meeting the gaps in the squad. Its not rocket science and the positioning of "its all down to the wire" is a complete cop out. I don't think those in charge know how to get deals across the line. Deal making is strategic, not jus last minute tactics on a "wing and a prayer". Piss poor stewardship of the club's assets. Agents and clubs must have figured out that CPFC are Championship quality when it comes to talent acquisition! I am so pissed that we couldn't get the basics done properly and our manager was clear from day 1 what needed to be done in this transfer window! Hard to argue with any of these points. We've heard for 5 months what we need in the transfer window. Maybe it will all work out, but there's no denying we didn't get what Roy and SP said we needed to get. If we were currently in the bottom 3, I have to believe they would have been more serious about getting reinforcements.

FOUR signings in the Summer.
Roy said this window alone he needs 6. Your numbers include loans right which should be excluded really we don't own them players. We have a squad which is too small no depth and needed a lot of signings over the periods you are covering and all we did n that time span is 6-7 signings that is not good at all. lets use Man City as example Peop stated aging squad which is why they did so many changes now we don't have money like him but it shows if you need to do the changes and new bodies you do it we messed about for month and then bring in what 2 players excluding loans which have not been that grat anyway.

Hodgson said many times he wanted another keeper, that is a fact. Hennessey is not good enough, that is a fact. We have gone 2 transfer windows and have royally fouled up sorting this long standing problem out, that is a sad and pathetic fact.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Sums up this transfer window' by Midlands Eagle The signings we got will great next year in the champ... I'm just surprised we have put our faith into players with no top flight experience. This striker has to hit he ground running and score goals or at least get CB scoring again. The Defensive midfielder... not good enough for Benfica, so not too sure there. The Cb, who knows. If we were 7th in the championship, going for it, i'd be impressed! Thing is, looking at the league, there are 9 other clubs 2/3 points either side of us. It is way too close to call and looks like it will go to the wire, where strong, experienced bodies will get us over the line, respecting the point or win. But... the main issue is that Roy didn't get what he asked for.

If you bother to read anything instead of reactionary slagging off of the chairman which seems to be an occurrence every season now you would know that the goalkeeper they had lined up was ready to come and Brondby decided to pull out of the deal at the last minute because they couldn't find a replacement.... So how is that SP or DF fault is beyond me. There are more things at play than 'ermmmmm I really like your player... Can I buy him'... 'yes of course you can, here he is'. That is the kind of talk people seem to expect to go on. Edited by CPFCwetrust (01 Feb 2018 4.20am)
