A LEGEND as a player.

A turncoat piece of shiiiiiite as a Manager.

So when we qualify for Europe and Fukin Bolton come calling for Dooooogie will his Family be safe again.

In my opinion his bridge was burnt along time ago.

Not fair. He did score that goal at Stockport (I was there too) and it was one of the greatest days to be a Palace fan and I'm forever grateful to him that he did score that goal.

If you actually listen to the HOL Radio interview it's clear that he a) acknowledges that he made a mistake going to Bolton, and regretted it very quicly, and b) there were shenanigans re the Cardiff incident that legally are impossible for him to discuss.

I didn't realise that Dougie still takes his family to Palace matches, but I say let's all forgive and move on. I don't want Dougie to take over from FDB now or ever, but we all know it'll be a miracle if FDB is still here in Two or three years time and we don't now have Keith Millen...

I can only dread thinking of a scenario whereby FDB proves a flop and is sacked and lo and behold Freedman is given the reins.

All this giving former Palace manager jobs eg Salako,Bright etc. What is Jim Cannon doing these days ?

Drinking is probably the answer to that question! Sw him at the ground last season, seems to have "sunk a few" over the years

I can't be bothered to read the whole of this thread, but as I posted on the other thread on this subject, Freedman had a decent record of identifying transfer targets and it's a position I think we should have filled long ago, so I'm quite happy to give him a chance.

Thoughts?

Excellent news. Ready made replacement when FDB fails.

You don't see many radios at football grounds these days !
After games, fans used to follow someone who had a radio to find out the other scores ! Before waiting to collect the 'Evening Standard classified' !

Up our way the news agent closed too early to stock the Saturday evening paper, so instead they were delivered to the local off licence. I think we got the Evening News, also the radio commentators were exceptional, Peter Jones and Bryon Butler in particular.

Now that I wouldn't call "excellent news"

Our poll on twitter seems have most people down as thinking appointing Freedman as Sporting Director is a good idea (currently at 79% yes/good idea):

Personally - this is a mixed bag.

Obviously Freedman has footballing brains - that's certain. You only need to see his signings, his love of the game and hi dedication.

As a manager, at palace, it wasn't bad at all - including his time as assistant etc.

Else where, Bolton - not good, Forest, considering the conditions, he did well.

For us, as a player and a staff member, he worked for free during admin, cut grass and cleaned boots as a small example of his affiliation with the club.

The way he left us, sour taste, but as i always said, it must have been a reason - he loved us.

Has parish eaten humble pie? Does he still rate Freedman in other capacities - ofcourse.

I think coming out of the blue is a weird one.

But, is he to be groomed, who knows, will he be plan B - almost certainly.

Yup - team of the 80s. No wait, you are referring to our admin.... i think we need to stop focusing on that blip or two on our history and focus as a whole who we are and where we should be.
