Bin dippers first goal was well taken, second goal it happens if the ball drops the right way.

We had a couple of chances...granted we wern't great, better team won.

Good to see a couple of academy boys out there.

First game that FDB has had a look at the team in a competitive match...the boy did good, and will get better.

I'm not worried about Frank or this season at all. I didn't see Liverpool walking rings around our players in HK. With Sahko and Chambers it would have been down to penalties, and with Cabaye and Tomkins instead of some youngsters we would have won. I recall December 2015 being 5th with Pardew and this team (THAT team) playing expansive football and commentators saying how quality we looked. Then we started shipping goals and you all know the rest - but these players DID already play possession football successfully (just zero defence). So I'm not worried. I have a great feeling about Frank. So you heard it here first - we will do well this season - we will finish better than 10th. Quote me.

Palace top 10 finish widely available @3/1. Relegation @ 5/1.

So the bookies are in our favour!

Like others have mentioned. It's a glorified friendly that they put a trophy at the end of it. If it wasnt on television, then wouldn't be as many moaners.

Look - I know it's very early days and we can't draw too many conclusions yet, but I do have a few concerns:

Recent palace history shows we fare much better keeping it tight and attacking on the break and horrendously badly when we try and open up and outplay better teams:
Holloway (too open) replaced by Pulis (did well).
Pardew (too open) replaced by Allardyce (did well).

We don't have the players to pass out from defence through central midfield, so we will need wholesale player changes to make that happen.

From the friendly today, we took far too many liberties in deep areas with high risk and little potential reward. In this way I was reminded of Holloway.

The other thing I don't like is how gleeful Parish was with getting FdB in. I wonder whether he has fully engaged his rational mind on this one.

So, I'm not making any concrete conclusions just yet, very early days as we all know. But I feel Frank has to get on with defensive / keeper recruitment pronto.

Bellend.

That is all

As a defender himself he will have that situation in hand. He knows he needs another keeper who is comfortable at feeding the ball out to the wing backs. Like many on here i bet you are all sick of Hennessey launching it into the stands with a miss kick.

As for the CB position he is working on that and i would imagine a right back is high on his shopping list. Midfield takes care of itself at the moment.

The front line he will need another striker and he knows CW is too unreliable. Personally i am pretty happy with the way things are going with him. He comes across as a people person and he will get the best out of the players he has at his disposal, Frank will do just fine...

No, I'm not "sick" of it, because I don't recall it happening other than on the odd occasion when a pressure clearance was required, and there won't be a keeper ever that hasn't done that.

I not aware that FdB has expressed any sort of opinion on Wickham.

I saw on transfermarket that wickham missed 45 games, since joining the club, that an official season and half. I think a number 2 striker is what I'd look for rather than a 3rd choice.

This comment he made tells me he knows exactly what he has and what he needs:

“I am very fond of 4-3-3 which I have played in all my life, but on the other side you have to look at you squad and I think that right now 3-4-3 is the best system,” he added. “It takes time to implement this system while everyone knows how to play 4-3-3, so we have to train hard and every player has to know his role. We can always switch to 4-3-3 but over the coming weeks we have to train really well.”

The new recruits will give a much better indicator of where we're headed but he clearly feels the current squad are more suited to 3-4-3.

Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five!

Well obviously, but there's a whole load of people who've been watching this squad for a lot longer than Frank who don't agree. If he knows such much about 4-3-3, I'd recommend he gives that a go first as we've struggled whenever we've tried to go three at the back.
