I'd say there's a heavy majority that do agree with me though, based on numerous polls. General conversations, remarks and chants at home and away games. I don't think it's too simplistic. Palace have always had to rely on having a top goalie to save our bacon and win points over the years. We need a lion of a player in goal but instead we've got a bambi. And that to me is why we are in the position we're in. It's that critical.

We were relegated with Nigel Martyn in goal, the best goalkeeper we have had in the last 40 years. So I assume you think it was his fault, not the crap team in front of him.
The goalkeeper is part of the team, not the sole reason we succeed or fail.

That was down to replacing key players with inferior players. The fact is that all over the outfield positions, the team is better individually than what the previous incumbent had in front of him. In some positions the status quo has been maintained. So how has that all of a sudden become crap? Because they're sick to the back teeth if having a goalie behind them that concedes weak goals and doesn't have it in him to pull off match winning performances? We've all seen the confidence and fight drain out of the team when Wayne lets a goal in. It's very visible from where I sit.

Never a truer word said I totally agree.

Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky.

Drawing a comparison between Nigel Martyn and Wayne Hennessey. Read it all on here now.

As you say GK is only part of the problem but in WHs case a very big part. Stop defending the indefensible.

Hence the "sounding like a wally" comment. It is indefensible. The guy is a complete plank and a player we will look back for years as the most damaging player in the clubs history.

I've given up arguing on here that Speroni should play instead of WH. (Mandanda being injured ) - it's become boring! The huge majority agreed but there are a few who didn't including Pardew- that's life. The facts are there to be seen.
What I am disappointed about is Big Sam's inability to see the problem. The obsession with having a basketball player in goal doesn't work when that player is better suited to the Harlem Globetrotters.
If he continues with WH he will be making a massive mistake but I'm not going to get excited about it any more (or at least until WH drops another b0ll0ck )

It's not great when your most argued-about player, and one so visible with his mistakes is touted by a retired ex-player as the worst training Goalie he's ever worked with.

I know it will be difficult, BUT whoever is in goal tomorrow we really need to get behind them, and try to reduce the number of 12 years olds c**ting them off 10ft away behind them... until at least we can get someone who is good enough and wants to be here.

I feel slightly sorry for the lad, It's not his fault he's s***e but quite frankly I'd put Perntreou infront of him right now... In fact any keeper at the club in any of our youth teams
