This post has been merged from a topic called 'Zaha announced in Ivory Coast squad for Africa Cup' by jamiemartin721 The club should respect Wilf wishes, and I hope there is no bullying undertone going on in the background. And how Townsend was selected ahead of Wilf is still completely beyond me.

So who would you replace him with for £30 mil? I am struggling to think of anyone. Haven't Man Utd got some sort of sell-on clause for Wilf when we signed him? If so, it will be even less than £30m to replace him. Would be gutted to see him leave us for a 2nd time! Edited by EagleLee79 (29 Dec 2016 2.06pm)

Nothing wrong with Wilf playing for his country. It would seem that none of them knew the rules then. As has been stated on here already, if a player refuses his international call up for any reason (other than injury) he is banned from playing for his club for the relevant period. Wilf was never in a position to stay with us once he signed the I.C. papers.
Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five! |

Nothing wrong with Wilf playing for his country. Totally agree with you on that one. His attitude sometimes lets him down and he stills hangs on to the ball instead of passing it and he goes down far too easily in my opinion and refs have twigged on hence the reason cluntenburg yellow carded him for simulation. ALL refs watch him like a hawk when he goes down as do the linesman. If Spurs come along with £30m then take it and lets get someone else in his place. No one man is indispensable no one.
Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky. |

This ^^^^^ Use the money for Defoe, Kevin Nolan, Robbie Brady and bring back Kaikai We can afford them without the need to sell our best player. A better idea would be to pay Wilf a load more money and sign the sort of players we should have signed in the Summer.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Zaha announced in Ivory Coast squad for Africa Cup' by jamiemartin721 Look, Zaha has been a willing servant to our club and has dug the first team out of many hole in past Premiership matches. A team should never be reliant upon one player but, as Parish has fairly alluded to, be given the chance to prosper upon the international scene.if given the opportunity...and England clearly hasn't recognised his full potential. He needs cover within his absence and in the event of any forthcoming injuries.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Zaha announced in Ivory Coast squad for Africa Cup' by jamiemartin721 I am gob smacked at some of the comment. Our one consistent player in 2016 and people are saying sell. Meanwhile on other threads people are bemoaning the sale of Jedi, Murray & Gayle. Not to mention the lack of loyalty in football Bonkers

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Zaha announced in Ivory Coast squad for Africa Cup' by jamiemartin721 Wilf has come on leaps and bounds this year - in both an attacking and defending sense. He wants to play at (his) top level - which without a competitive call up to England, it has to be the Ivory Coast. Yes, we will miss him. Without a new signing to cover, the formation must change. Townsend, on form, can do damage at right wing. I don't see who can fill in on the left to bring balance. He is our game changer. He is our best player. And we should keep him at all costs.
