He is one of the worst England international players I've seen in a while. At 12 million, he's probably about 5 million overpriced as well. Delighted we dodged that bullet, money can be used on a lot better in this window with any luck. According to Pardew it seems that our interest in him was a figment of the media's imagination

Have never rated him, good in flashes but nowhere near consistent enough to play for a top 10 club. Plays the game at a walking pace a lot of the time, he's a slightly better version of Jordon Mutch.

I was admiring him during our recent game with Swansea - pinged a good few long passes around. Then he promptly gave the ball to us 3 times in 2 minutes, including a throw-in straight to our player, and was substituted. He's a bit half-arsed about things, isn't he.
