This wouldn't involve Steve Parish turning up at Stamford Bridge with 15m in used fivers in a brown paper bag. There will be a structured payment plan that would mitigate some of our risk. Do those structured payment plans work for the top players? I can understand Steve Parish wanting to structure a payment plan which reduces the cost if we get relegated but I can equally understand the selling club not wanting to suffer on grounds completely unrelated to the player they are selling. We also have form for restricting the appearances of players if a further payment based on number of appearances is getting close
According to the article that I read the player was Mariappa and a couple more appearances would trigger a further payment to Reading plus a significant salary hike but just because I read it in the press doesn't mean it's true Oh I see, I assumed you were referring to players with such contracts when we were in administration. Surely that was down to the administrators/owners at the time and CPFC2010 wouldn't be in for that kind of bullsh1t? It's not putting up with bulls***; it's just the way the market works. I wasn't inferring the style of contract was bullsh!t but restricting a players apperances being bullsh!t, in the context of a first teamer. n the case of a squad player (like Mariappa) it would be understandable. With a player like Remy, who would start ever game he was fit, restricting his starts due to not wanting to trigger clauses in this contract would be counter-productive.

I always think with these things the key ultimately is what the player wants. Look at Raheem Sterling; once a player has shown his hand, there's really not that much you can do to keep him. If Remy seriously wants to come to Palace, my guess is he'll end up here. It may be a long and arduous process but Chelsea are nothing if not pragmatic.

I mentioned this in the Austin thread but all reports seem to suggest Remy is on his way to Bestikas on a season long loan. Where does it say he is our number 1 target now. I would like to think he is but it seems the Besiktas deal may be to far down the line for us to even pinch a loan deal. Besiktas press officer Metin Albayrak has hinted that Chelsea striker Loic Remy could join any time now. Edited by baldeagle88 (10 Jul 2015 8.27pm)

Did that fall through?
