If everyone suffered with depression because their wife left them or they lost tier job, this would be a very sorry state of a country. Get over it grow a pair, we all have lost a job or a girlfriend or have a family member die its part of life. I am a self employed plumber/Multi-trader with a family I don't always have work every day or week, sometimes go a couple of months without work. I don't take pity on myself and start crying like a baby and say I feel depressed I have no work, quick let me run to the doctor and take a pill. I get on with life

Illness my arse there are a lot of people that use it as a means of getting out of going to work, so they can claim benefits and sit on their big fat arses. The same as most things if someone can find an angle to use it to their advantage they will Ah no I been found out, I'm faking a crippling disease that results in about 16% of those suffering from it killing themselves, just to claim s**ty benefits - Which I don't claim. Which you have to of course have proof to verify (ie from a doctor in the short term and a psychiatrist in the long term, and be recieving treatment) and pass a government ATOS interview requiring to prove disability that prevents you from working. My friend is so good at faking this for benefits that she regularly undergoes ECT as medication has no theraputic effect for her. Definately worth being put under, being electrocuted and losing memory in order to get that magic 63.50 a week.
Its a bit different now days, and only used in drug resistant depression, but yeah its still in use, but somewhat less debilitating than the old 'method', not least because the person is unconscious and the voltage is much lower. But it still affects personality, as a side effect is the loss of memory.
