None (the discrimination act essentially extends the same lawful rights). The issue I suspect is more with people accepting those rights, and raising awareness that equality in law doesn't necessarily equate to equality in society.

The equal pay act is nearly 50 years old, yet women still experience discrimination. Granted not as much as they would working in a Radio Station with DLT>

Had a bit of a sabbatical and haven't posted for ages.as hoping my first post would be Palace/Footy related but blimey, can't believe this thread !! Everyone is entitled to their view as to the rights and wrongs of the anti-Homophobia campaign (personally I couldn't give a rats arse either way) but some of the venom dressed up as 'humour' is astounding. Don't consider myself naive or a do-gooder, but seriously ?

So you to are both telling me that gays and some Africans are using past occurances to try to gain more for themselves. You have never had an argument or disagreement and they say "Isit cos I am...." or try and pull the race card out on you to make you back down. It is utter bollocks. I have no problem with Gays or Black people personally but so many of them use things that don't happen anymore to put themselves above other people or as a threat to make someone back down? Its all well and good saying I am old fashioned but the reason why is my tax going towards these ridiculous campaigns that are really being forced upon people by ethics and gays who say if you don't do this you are racist a right winged.

Nothing wrong though with a bit of standing up for yourself and a bit of raising awareness etc. Keeps it fresh and makes progress. I mean these days even Gay people are allowed to make themselves miserable through that so overated bastion to delusionality in the face of nature, aka marriage.

I don't care what homophobes do in the privacy of their own home, provided they're all consenting adults. Nothing sounds as ridiculous though as when people go on hyperbole rants and rope in the idea that somehow they're being oppressed.

The 1984 reference is a nice touch of overstatement. I'm pretty sure the Thought Police were actually denying people the rights of equality and individual to support a corrupt status quo that was oppressing the nature of civil rights, most notably sexual expression, rather than protecting those individual rights.
