Football hooliganism carries a great deal of responsibility for the likes of Hillsborough and Haysel along with the isolated deaths over the years. Less seriously, it also keeps thousands of fans away from grounds that they would otherwise attend. Meanwhile, many idiots on here look back fondly.

I don't like to term people on here as "Idiots", however that said, I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiments expressed.

"Football Violence Memories"

It can hardly be clearer what this thread was about.

Therefore, I am genuinely interested: Why have you both read it?

Why does one read any thread ?
Interested to see if it was a glorification or repudiation.
Wanted to see what form the nostalgia would take.

Just another item in the long list of things we are supposed to 'celebrate' these days, and such items need challenging.

Here y'go...

Recognise T.Elsie in the front with the top around his waste. Is that Clive Flemming behind?

Remember elsie well, last game of that season 81/82 we played Newcastle at home and it kicked off on the pitch after the game.
Elsie was fighting some big Geordie and the old bill went to nick him so he had it on his toes and almost got away but for some c*** of a steward to trip him up with a corner flag.
Last I heard he had gone to live in Australia but that was years ago.
Nice fella and always well turned out him and his little lot.

Totally agree. I for one enjoyed my youth travelling all over the country with Palace sometimes getting into fights with other teams. Sometimes just getting drunk and being a fool. I celebrate the fact i had the balls for life and i enjoyed every minute of it even getting the mail trains back from far away places or bunking the coaches back from the north east skint because i spent all my money getting there and getting drunk as a teenager.
I did over 60 away grounds before the age of 17 and my father only took me to my 1st game burnley 79.
i wouldnt do it today mind you as i don't drink anymore

What, you going to kick my head in if I keep posting? By the way, you need an apostrophe in 'clues'. Also, the title does not suggest that all the postings should be glorifying the mindless violence; so postings critical of mindless yobs beating each other up should be valid.

Also glad to see that you have made a spelling/grammar mistake after you pompously had a go at someone else for missing an apostrophe.

You appear to be a very charmless man.
