I've seen plenty of Omicron cases now, most people didn't even realise they had it. One or two were mildly ill for a couple of days. Anyone seen any different?

Certainly, though several studies show that mixing different vaccines is a good move, and so if anything it's just reassurance that those who had two AZ jabs first don't look to be in a particularly bad position. That’s what the nurse said when I got mine x2 AZ then Pfizer. Can’t say I was bothered one way or the other though.

On FB that only stops them looking at what you post on your profile, tagging you or sending you invites. None of which applies here. Twitter is a very different format, without open forums, so isn't comparable. Why on earth anyone believes it is "reasonable" to request I stop responding beats me. Why should I not comment on any subject? Others do. Just because I disagree with what someone writes doesn't mean they haven't the right to post it. I am not writing to anyone personally, in private. I am posting an open response to a post in a forum. If anyone wants to read it, they can. If they don't, fine. It's up to them.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

If this variant is genuinely on the mild side then that may well be real blessing in disguise, as it essentially will be a 'booster' that is non optional and will likely in combination with vaccination (and to an extent those without) offer decent additional protection against whatever comes next. I can understand people being unnerved by how fast its spreading but let's hope this scenario is what pans out, as it will move to 'best case scenario' territory.

So you can say big sites don't have the block facility and when I point out they actually do you come up with waffle that because they differ that somehow doesn't apply.....nonsense as usual. If I remember correctly the bbs has a block facility.....if that's not correct I'm happy to be corrected. You are free to comment on any subject. You are being asked to stop responding to a specific poster's posts. You do not need to attach your response directly to that poster. You are just being disingenuous. To be fair, a block facility would stop a lot of his poorly misunderstood/unsubstantiated bollocks ever seeing the light of day.

Yes, they work by different mechanisms and so likely bring about better immune response (Heterologous prime-boost immunisationation). Studies appear to back that up and it's true of several other viruses/diseases. As you say that I'd have taken whichever vaccine was offered as there is good rationale and science behind getting any of the boosters. That and from a personal perspective I got covid after my first jab, and so being that it didn't overly trouble me, I'm thankfully likely well protected via various angles against whatever I come into contact with.

So I 'googled' this and on the first page were these two fact check sites... Yes Tim and if you read it fully they are fact Checking Dr. Hillary and Lorraine Kelly who said incorrectly that 90% of patients ‘in hospital’ were unvaccinated. That isn’t correct, the claim is 90% of people ‘in Intensive care’ with COVID are unvaccinated and that is the situation being reported this week in numerous media outlets and the point I was highlighting on here. Whether it’s actually 9 out of ten or 8 out of ten it is currently an extremely high percentage of unvaccinated people in ICU. As I have mentioned before my sister is a Doctor but her current full time employment is as a Director of the NHS, she is now back on the front line in the hospital wards helping out as they are so short staffed. She said to me two days ago that ICU’s where she is working are full of unvaccinated people with COVID who are pleading with them to be given the vaccine. I couldn’t repeat on here what else she says about the situation.
