Chelsea said they would only sell, if they receive an offer for a player they think is too good to turn down. He, I believe is the one player we are desperately trying to sign, if this doesn't come off, I don't think we'll sign anyone. Dependent on United getting Dest from Barca. If they don’t he stays, if he signs, AWB is available- only issue is West Ham want him also

On a positive slant with Gallagher, we mush have had assurance from him that if Chelsea were willing to sell him, he would be open to joining us. Someone said in a crystal palace podcast that they know 100% that we have not bid £27 million for Gallagher, we haven't bid at all, if you look at Vieira when he was asked in his press conference about that bid, that look tells you we also haven't bid for him, yet. I think we will, but I think we are looking at £35 million, the transfer market has gone mad, on average players.

For a comparison (transfer market has gone mad), that'd be more than L'pool paid for Salah 5 years ago.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

After TM was missing for the first half yesterday I have to say its madness not buying or loaning another left back. Clyne did ok but he's a RB playing LB. IF TM gets injured then we would be royally screwed. Man city went pear shaped after he went off.

Once again everything appears to be going to the very last day of the window. Remember last season when we had the majority done well before then. I'm really not confident about deadline. If some of our targets do become available, we just don't have enough financial power to complete with the likes of West Ham or Newcastle. If Zaha goes, we are well and truly in trouble because no one else scores. We were in this situation before and Edouard was brought in to try and rectify that, but it simply has not worked.

The meeja are awfully quiet about us at the moment and leaving aside the chatter about Zaha they don't seem to be saying much at all

I've been saying this for last 3 transfer windows. If we play with inverted windows there is space for the full backs to get forward, particularly if we go behind. We have cover at right back but not at left back in my opinion. I think the idea of chasing AWB is only as a long term solution for when Joel Ward hangs up his boots. Problem is there are a lot of right backs but so many decent left backs around at the moment. Edited by viveasheagle (31 Aug 2022 12.56pm)

It's obvious we are lacking at LB so why have we not approaches Kurzawa from PSG. He has just joined Fulham on loan without much risk. What is Dougie and the scouting team doing?
