I'd love to work in sports journalism. You just sit there making up total bollocks all day every day. No need to prove a single thing you say, and no comeback on you when everything you've said is shown to be total bollocks. Personally, I'd rather Sky employed fewer 'journalists' and just reduced my subscription fee a bit. I can make mad s*** up myself.

So we've had Nuno in for 3 days, Lampard at the training ground for a couple of weeks, numerous meetings with Steve Cooper's agent... maybe we're putting together some sort of management dream team in order to avoid having to make any transfers. Matbe Frank was working on his fitness , hoping we will sign him up

In SP we trust, if a big if Nuno is interested and why wouldn’t he be ? we are the only PL club with a vacancy.. let’s get the deal done .. the European leagues are skint, so will be no joy there for him .. the sky £ and the lure of south Norwood is more than enough for any man ..

There’s a reason he’s out of a job and whilst nobody knows for sure, it’s almost certainly linked with some sort of a breakdown in relationship between the Wolves hierarchy and Jorge Mendes. There were numerous reports last season of Mendes trying to get Nuno installed as manager of Villa, holding the Wolves board to ransom if they refused to carry on spending in the manner they had in recent years. Wolves have spent big bucks ever since Nuno was appointed. They spent 35mil on a right back last season ffs. Even if we can give assurances to Nuno of funds for the upcoming season, it still won’t be funds of that nature and our owners aren’t going to be plunging that sort of money into the club on a sustained basis. If Nuno comes with Mendes, which he will, the politics associated with him are a recipe for disaster. He’s the number one candidate on paper. But only on paper. IF (and it’s a big if) we can genuinely bring him to the club, it’s not the utopia Palace fans are currently suggesting. Edited by Mstrobez (01 Jun 2021 5.58pm)

Does anyone else see an irony of not wanting Cooper, when we probably wouldn't have wanted Nuno either before he did what he did with Wolves. Nice to see Nuno is already our Manager according to Wiki!!

I don't see what leverage this Mendes chappy can hold over us - "pay the money or I'll let Nuno go to Spurs/Lazio" - it's a different set up to what was arranged at Wolves - depends how much restructuring Nuno insists upon I suppose - the board might cede too much control in an attempt to persuade him, but Nuno & co can't demand we spend money we haven't got, and Parish is very big on financial sustainability. I don't really see how appointing Nuno will affect this, maybe we could have done with someone who insisted we spent more of the AWB money. All spec of course, but he is clear favourite now apart from BetVictor who go 8-1 when nobody else is bigger than 2s, they go short on Cooper and Ismael, so nobody's agreed to anything yet.

Edited by Mstrobez (01 Jun 2021 5.58pm) Every manager in the world is only as good as their players, and the players are generally as good as the budget. The issue is the way in which manages cope with having a distinctly average squad of players - some accept it and adjust their tactics accordingly (Dyche), some ignore it and aim for the stars anyway (Hassenhuttl), whilst some throw a massive hissy fit time and again until a parting of the ways is inevitable (Benetiz). Fact is, we just don't know how Nuno copes with an average squad of players.
