The biggest thing I notice is the death of comedy. Thank God for Youtube, I can get my fix from the 80s and 90s there. I think John Cleese said that the BBC does not make comedy programs anymore. And it does appear that the celebrated British sense of humour is in decline, something I never thought possible.

It was inevitable in the mainstream where the list of proscribed subjects means most comedy has to be at the Michael McIntyre level of mild observation.

As most of these shows are made months in advance, my guess is we are only now catching the impact of the pandemic. The output is already very stretched, with many repeats of already repeated programmes. Not to your taste perhaps, but Mrs Brown's Boys is often very funny, but also charming and sometimes thought-provoking too. Give it a go, with an open mind. So does that mean I get a refund on my TV license? Last year they returned my cheque saying they couldn't accept it as it was the same cheque I had sent them the previous year. I told them don't think of it as a repeat but another chance to enjoy... Christmas is one of the few times I actually look at the BBC schedule in the hope that there might be something I want to see. Of all the unpopular posts you've made on here WE, this might be the most disgraceful!

Why would any decent Englishman bother to watch this unicorn, rainbow, multi-culti, totally feminised, white baiting shower of s***e. It's designed to infuriate you and advocate for your dispossession and ultimate demise.

All the manipulatory techniques and half truths they use to keep you on board is particularly unethical....quite surprising that it's legal.

Yeah, me too. The threatening letters actually make me laugh until I remember they are also sending these to old ladies and war veterans.

I find some posters here really amusing in a black humour kind of way. Humanity throws up weird characters all the time, so if we cannot find common ground with them at least we can get a laugh out of them. Brendon O'Carroll has a warmth and twinkle which always amuses me. It's a bit of a p*ss take too, which makes me laugh. The format is different, with the audience part of the show. If you don't like it, fine, but I find it funny.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |
