You'll need to show me how you measure a good economy. The stock market is hitting all time highs, but I'm not sure how that is a sign of a good economy. Yes, he's got unemployment slightly lower than Obama, but the trend was there. He hasn't his the GDP growth Obama managed yet, He is increasing the deficitandx since this is partially a trade chat, his trade deficits compared to Obama's are far worse. Bringing this back to the election here, it's no different than what Farage or Boris or even Corbyn are saying. They can fix everything, but they can't really. I'll need to read the book, but, as with anything relating to policy and economics, in this day and age, I would always advise checking the source of the prediction and then investigating the reasoning on why they have concluded on that prediction and again, back to the election/Brexit, there is no talk about solutions to problems. All I hear are catastrophes from one side and indifference from the other. I think probably the whole Trump and Brexit thing are a bit like the French revolution.....it's too early to tell. In both camps what we have are two very loud megaphones but not a lot of actual data for firm conclusions. Like you say he needs a second term to make defining impacts but then again that's up in the air......I would put it at perhaps 55/45 in his favour. Whoever wins works for me in different senses.....and it's all popcorn.

Corbyn is entitled to raise the issue but even the BBC has said there is no evidence that ministers agreed anything. These were preliminary talks so naturally both sides will state what they want that doesn't mean they will get it. Now that the noise has ben made I can't see any Tory government agreeing this so to that extent its job done. I can't see it ever happening anyway.....not in Corbyn's fear mongering narrative anyway. I can see the US making inroads in private provision for sure.....but this idea that 'single payer' is going to be given up is nothing but lies. Edited by Stirlingsays (27 Nov 2019 1.35pm)

I'm not even convinced he wants to be President now let alone next term, but it affords him legal protections that he can't really do without anymore, so he'll hang on for grim death. That and to his very core he's about power. It's a toss up election and will be fascinating to see. As for Brexit, when that's over and done with, does it mean we have to go back to talking about the weather? Edited by dollardays (27 Nov 2019 1.39pm)

But the guessing is rather fun.

I have to admit, she does remind me of some female English teachers I've met along the way. With her it's mainly about the presentation. She's has that strident feminist style, which doesn't come across well to the normie. Thatcher learnt how to combine a strident and firm nature while still retaining a certain femininity. The activists won't like hearing that of course but that's the reality. Edited by Stirlingsays (27 Nov 2019 2.19pm)

We said this a couple of weeks ago the more the public know the less they like her. The polls are doing nothing to suggest otherwise. If the Lib Dems had the right leader they could have swept up the Labour Remain vote.

How very true. I would argue that Trump is probably going to prove far less impactful on history than Brexit but the truth is that none of will be around to find out! But the guessing is rather fun. Trump has been part hilarious, part scary and part incredibly impressive. Like the idiot savant who ends up banging the prom queen......except he isn't an idiot in reality....but you get the gist. It's quite incredible as hardly anyone who knows him likes him. But he's very good at projecting strength and these are uncertain times. No one gave him a chance and he had most of the money and TV ranged against him.....Now he has the money but still only Fox for him. It's compulsive viewing whatever happens. Edited by Stirlingsays (27 Nov 2019 2.28pm) Trump has been exceptional in execution of his office in terms of getting important things done and is effectively winning on all fronts at the moment. I just hope we are not in the same "progressive" death spiral of a culture in 5 years time. He may just hold the fort long enough for the entirety of western civilization to come to it's senses.

The future is socialist and then....in the US at least...when the penny drops....some sort of civil conflict and probable secession. I just wonder if we will be around to see it.
