As has been stated many times before when this nonsense about cost is brought up.

Thatcher....Being one of the few sceptical Tories in her cabinet at the time was pivotal in securing the EU rebate for this country.

As Hague mentioned last week that has brought in 75 billion for this country....The 'left' of course have given a significant proportion of it away.

She certainly deserves this ceremonial funeral.

Austerity, apparently we're ecconomically f**ked - And have to make savings where ever - We've implimented cuts in the NHS - Theres money though to bury a wealthy ex-Tory Prime Minister, that maybea around 50% of the country liked.

A waste of money is waste of money, no matter how much someone might have saved us.

Funny that all the Labour supporting crowd on here are complaining about the size and cost of her funeral...........YOU FORGET YOUR OWN TONY BOY BLAIR PASSED ALL THE PLANS FOR THIS FUNERAL HIMSELF AND HE IS THERE RIGHT NOW!!!!

I'd be happy for him to have his funeral tomorrow. I pefer Thatcher to Blair, at least she was what she proclaimed to be, rather than a corporate shill, lying, war criminal who betrayed the working classes.

I think its absolutely daft justifying the costs of the funeral with this poxy EU rebate cash, unbelievable

How so?

If a person's actions result in significant financial benefit how is that not a justification?

You can't moan at the cost and then not recognise financial actions that have reduced cost for the economy.

Yes, we are economically f--ked.

Still, we are Britain....Not your idea of a nationless non flag waving whatever it is.

We send off people we regard as significant in this way....It's something we do.

I've no desire to live in the kind of country the 'real' left on here envisage that's for sure.....And either do most of us.

decimated industrial communities of the North of England never saw a shilling of this rebate, a welfare state bill that is probably close to hundreds of billions over the years, third and fourth generations of families on benefits and never will have employment in their lifetimes , blah blah blah.

But she spunked a lot more than 75bill through North Sea oil revenue mismanagement and the cost of keeping an extra two million on the dole.

She has only got this funeral because she was a woman. Let's be honest here. Do you think Heseltine if he had been PM 1979-1990 with the same outcomes would be afforded such a grandiose farewell?

To be fair, she chose some cracking music for the funeral.

Sorry Kermit but that's just not so.

Firstly, arguments over what is done with political finances are politics and there will never be agreement on that, whatever the party......And I don't agree with you on her management of North sea oil....Which though it's constantly harped on about was only responsible for 3 percent of our GDP.

Secondly her EU rebate continued to operate long after she had left office.....So she can't be blamed for 'mismanaging' funds because she wasn't taking decisions in either the Tory or Labour governments that followed.

The cost argument is simply one of ignorance fuelled by dislike not reason.
