Its crazy somewhere along the line we have forgotten the staggering majority of people get over this virus without even knowing they have it. Others its a cold/flu. Protect the vulnerable by all means & if you feel you need the vaccine go for it but lets not turn the fear rhetoric upto 1000 The numbers who get over it are a complete irrelevance. It's the numbers who don't, who matter.

The more the vaccinated screech about me getting vaccinated to make them feel better about their own vaccine status, the more I see people posting their booster status on social media again to make themselves feel better about their own life choices & the more governments push towards mandating this stuff the more it pushes me away, Its the proverbial line in the sand. Honestly if it makes you feel better about yourself get the booster. So if no one told you to get it, you’d get it?

At this rate, are the PL going to have to extend the season?

Honestly if it makes you feel better about yourself get the booster. Based on the data I'd say that objectively getting vaccinated as an adult is by far the best choice unless there is an especially good reason not to. You're free to make whatever decision you want, but it certainly appears that you've done so based an aversion of other peoples opinion rather than on health grounds. And so if anything your actions have been more easily influenced than those who just got on with it. People are not getting a booster because it makes them feel better about themselves, they're doing it because it's objectively the correct decision to make on health grounds, regardless of whether or not they've already had covid or are bothered about catching it.

At this rate, are the PL going to have to extend the season? This was being discussed on 5 live earlier. 2022 is already really congested, with the Nations League games in June and a 6 week break in November and December for the World Cup meaning an early start to the season. So an extension for this looks pretty impossible.

Some of the comments are really crazy. Whether or not someone has an injection of a vaccine is a personal health decision. A state that seeks to punish them for it isn't a free one. None of this seems based upon actual statistics. Edited by Stirlingsays (16 Dec 2021 10.56pm)

This gives the league a great opportunity to take a lead and demonstrate what needs to be done. Tell the clubs that unvaccinated players cannot train with the vaccinated, or play in matches, as the risk of them catching Covid is too high, and the league wants to play it's part in helping the NHS. Clubs should still be able to field teams, using reserves and juniors if needed. Still pay them their basic wages, but not bonuses. I wonder if the PL will adopt something like this if we start seeing too many cancellations? Rather than putting your big boots on wouldn’t it be better to use this self contained group as a test sample to find out their reasons for not getting vaccinated?

Everyone will be getting their free Omicron booster imminently so it may become less relevant. There's certainly more logical approaches than vaccine dodging, but we'll all end up in a similar place on account of a mix of vaccination and infection. All in all we're in about as good shape as possible to deal with whatever pops up, and that's not a bad way to view it.
