For my part the way I see this:

We agreed personal terms with the player, which took a long time as it was complex and LOADS of money, plus he has a dodgy agent

Then having done that we engage with the club. Fancy that, the club is holding out a while to get a good deal.

Seems to me that getting the player lined up first was the right thing to do. Liverpool are now in a position where it would be hard to hang on to him and don't think there could be another suitor so advanced as the mighty Eagles.

Liverpool will want to tie this up once they have done all they can in the negotiations. I do reckon this will happen and by the end of the week.

Still, wadda I know?

Let's be honest, there is only a handful of teams playing outside of the prem that can afford to spend £30m on a player and why would any of them want Benteke?

I must admit I'm not really sold on the idea of Benteke for £30m on £130k a week. I think this kind of deal shows how poor our scouting system is, that we can't find a cheaper plan than this.

Remember we have until 31st August to complete this deal. I bid 400 pages!

Benteke may be waiting for a DATE. Not a bird, a calendar date. I am guessing that he gets a huge loyalty bonus at ONE YEAR'S service and that he didn't realise this until his agent told him. The date maybe in a few days...I dunno...someone needs to look up the date he signed for the reds, and my bet is that he will be at Palace the day after that. This makes sense as to all the positive rumours and Liverpool's hurry to get him to us (knowing he'd lose his loyalty bonus). This also makes sense of his agent's recent public statement that Benteke fully intends to see out his agreed 5 year contract. Parchmore Eagle the legend. Thank me all of you please and chill out.
