Maybe a stupid question, but does anyone know why the club and Sainsburys don't seem to want to work together ? Would it not be beneficial to both parties to reach an agreement that sees us redeveloping the main stand and whitehorse, with Sainsbury's losing some land in return for a new store on a new stadium in a soon to be gentrified area. Is it because the club only want to do it stand by stand or are Sainsbury's just not interested or expecting us to buy land at a premium and then build them a new store also ? In all honesty...I think they'll find an agreement. Its just that when approached about the strip of car park they came back with a reportedly crazy amount and I have a feeling that rather then trying to negotiate, SP cam out in the press saying as much. I agree that it's in both interests to move forward together, quickly.

There are probably a number of reasons but personally I think one of the main ones is from a business point of view, football especially with a club like ours is an extremely speculative game. I'd imagine sainsburys are reluctant to give up on precious land that supermarkets see as so valuable for the sake of "maybe increasing a bit of revenue" - if we go down, that of course won't be the case. That on top of weighing how much more profit they'll actually rake in as a result of 6k more people on a match day vs how much land they may need to give up. If you look it at strictly from a business point of view, were essentially asking them to give up highly valued land (and who knows of what quanitity), because Parish thinks this is a slam dunk for everyone around despite the fact we have a club that is desperately fighting relegation every year. One would hope that potentially they have an agreement in principle, subject to planning. And that's what I'm still clinging onto, when taking into considerarion the fuss that was made yesterday.

I really do hope that SP has done his homework properly on all of this before releasing yesterdays scheme as there would be huge disappointment if this is a damp squib. I'm not sure the new stand would take away Sainsburys car parking spaces. The link now doesn't work. It's certainly going to take away car parking in the car park Sainsburys own but lease to us and have legal rights to use it as a Sainsburys car parking overspill but haven't ever needed. God knows what the plans are for cpfc car parking with even fewer spaces once the main stand is way more than 100% deeper.

I hope it happens but the Sainsburys comments in the advertiser didn't hint anything to that effect. But if this is merely a way of attempting a forced hand, why now? I'm clutching at straws I know but Parish spoke about plans for the main stand years ago. Sainsbury's were as stubborn then as they are now, why has he waited for so long. He would've surely recognised Sainsbury's not moving a long time ago.

The Palace spokesperson just said: 'Parish thinks the best way is to show what a great project it is and then hope we can work cooperatively. There need to be ongoing discussions with Sainsburys but there's no point having them until we have planning permission. you can submit plans on land you do not own.' But Sainsburys were unaware of these plans and the unveiling of them. That's where it is. Edited by Rudi Hedman (05 Dec 2017 4.18pm)

All you need to know on how Parish views Sainsburys on this. Well done the Adder. That's actually worth reading. It's as if somebody decided to actually pick up the phone and call a few people. Huge development.

Note the Parish quotes are February but it doesn't sound as if anything has been agreed in principle going by the cpfc spokesperson. Parish is throwing the plans out there with the money and intention to actually do it and find out and publicly voice the objections and obstacles probably just Sainsburys have any influence with.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Stadium upgrade, can anyone please advise on.....' by Penge Eagle Apart from the changes to the main stand , is anything else planned around the ground to improve facilties, i.e toilets in the AW and generally around the ground. If anyone has seen anything in the proposal that includes non main stand expenditure and improvement please point it out Hopefully it is there and I missed it Thanks They are spending a few quid on the Whitehorse end. If that helps?
