Like doing alright for yourself suddenly means that unless you pull up the drawbridge for everyone else then you can't believe that some socialist policies make sense. I'm far more a capitalist and a free marketeer than a socialist, but I believe in a progressive tax/social security system with those with higher earnings/wealth contributing more back into the system that benefits them to ensure high levels of healthcare, social care, education, public transport etc. for the rest of society. I also believe that natural monopolies such as utilities, railways etc. should be in public hands (or at the very least run on a not for profit basis). People should be able to crack on and make money as much as they want, as long as they're not abusing human beings and paying back into the system through taxation then that's all fine by me. But still, paint me as a massive hippy just because I'm to the left of most on here.

Socialist measures are the only things keeping the country going. A wealth tax of 2% raising 96 billions seems unarguably fair and helpful to the NHS and struggling families.

I wasn’t putting him down anyway, I was asking a question that I thought would be appropriate to someone with socialist ideals. Maybe I’ll ask you instead. If you are faced with putting food on the table for your family or protecting the nhs by staying in when you have a sniffle what would you do? Too many people you included it would appear associate everything with political ideals. I don’t have any, I think they are all garbage as I have mentioned on here many times. Wanting a decent nhs and thinking we are going about things in the wrong way are two entirely different things but apparently it’s the government’s excuse for any decision they make currently.

Edited by Stirlingsays (16 Dec 2021 2.21pm) There’s going to be an issue in hospitals but probably a shorter one. Maybe not short enough [Tweet Link]

Yeah, we all know that increasing tax on those with real wealth has always worked out well. France tried that only years back....total disaster.

The only difference is that today you have this huge number of egos and control freaks who think that this or that policy made any real difference.....other than destroying their economies much more than the mega fecked state they were already in. Mate, it's a mesageboard - people might challenge your views occasionally.. I'm not sure why you consider that touchy. I'd certainly agree that support needs to be in place for people to be able to 'afford' to do the right thing and isolate when appropriate.

No, the Tories are in the business of partying,.
