Despite his achievements thus far, from a quick read on the Swansea forums it does seem Cooper gets criticism from some of their fans for boring football. I'll hold my hands up and say I really have no knowledge of Cooper or Ismael or what they would bring to Palace. Given Palace's transfer plan now seems to be to target top young players from the lower leagues both make some sense and I imagine both would be less demanding regarding transfers. If we move for Dyche, Howe, Lampard or Nuno, then I think we can take it that the club has money to spend as I don't think any of those candidates would come in to work with peanuts. My preferred choice would be Nuno all day long, but he won't come to us. My second choice would be Dyche as I think he knows how to get the best out of the players at his disposal and he knows how to build a team rather than a collection of individuals. I agree Cooper and Ismael are employed in the championship ; for the same reason I'd leave Dyche out of it. either of the other three I'd be happy with Edited by Vincehair (01 Jun 2021 12.18pm)

Just had my Lampard tattoo finished. It's basically a version of Mount Rushmore with previous Palace legends like P Diddy and Colonel Gadaffi. Has he been announced yet?

This all reminds me of 2017. We were linked with Mauricio Pelligrino, and I seem to remember some clamouring for him to be our new manager. There was disappointment that he chose Saints over us. We ended up gettin Fdb. not commenting on that one! I guess my point is that you don't really know how a manager is take to a new club or a new league. Some knock it out of the park, some Struggle to make an impact, some are an unmitigated disaster. We should have faith in the direction that the boards has chosen to move forward, and that they employ the best manager for that direction.

We all know what a big job is ahead, and it could be that Hodgson didn't fancy it. But gone he has...I'll get behind whoever Palace appoint. Until they start losing

All I would add is that, as I've said for some time now, the ideal route for Palace is to get agreement from as many of Burnley, Swansea and Barnsley as possible to speak with their manager, then just interview them, if they want to be interviewed, plus any out of work managers who apply. Then decide on who gave the best answers and had the most convincing plan for the team, based on whatever the budget, expectations and requirements actually are. Football clubs can't interview a range of candidates for a vacant post very often, Usually it's a question of trying to keep it quiet that you are speaking with a particular manager until you've sacked the one you've got, normally in the middle of a season when you have no time at all to spend considering options. We are in the unusual position where we can have a proper interview process, so why not do that?

I get the feeling that's what is taking place - there are several viable candidates and there will be an order of preference, jfi Nuno is being well-backed - between 3-1 and 9-2 with the bookies but you can only get 7-5 on the exchanges, same price as Howe, whether it happens or not is a different matter altogether, but the market says it's a distinct possibility.

Without any inside track, I do tend to think the Cooper rumours could be well founded. What's interesting to me is that Allardyce, Hodgson and now Cooper all had backgrounds with England - although admittedly Cooper was with the lower age groups.
