Roughly 2 trillion gdp so it's a lot individually but a piss in a swimming pool in the bigger picture of %'s.

And you are affected in what way then? My question about this report would be what are they comparing this against? 7,500 jobs lost to the EU mainly to Dublin. I lost my bank job to Dublin back in the 1990's (2000 from my company) nothing to do with Brexit. As numbers not a great deal considering the size of the Financial Services market in the UK. The number of jobs in the FS sector is likely to go down anyway due to automation. As for assets yes it's a big number but again over the last 40 years what has happened I suspect that companies move assets around all the time because it suits them. Maybe companies have moved them in anticipation of problems with the EU they may move them back? I think a more accurate reflection is to look at this year on year over the next 5 years. If the size of assets is smaller than today I guess you can say Brexit has had a negative impact.

The Netherlands and Germany I don't think they were expecting this EU re-location from the UK and its actually a problem absorbing it all. Exiting the single market, which leave said would not happen, is turning into a disaster, Northern Ireland would be daft to ditch it, they should ditch Johnson instead. Johnson's tariff free deal is of course nothing of the kind, small and medium exporters are either giving up or re-locating. A typical problem is the origin of components in a product, the EU were well prepared from the start, it's almost impossible to show their validity. Its like having to show where you were fishing years ago, who can do that. The single market, Thatcher's great free trade achievement. Now look at it.

It was all foreseen but dismissed as "Project Fear" by those who put "independence" over the safety, security and prosperity of everyone else. Where are all the easy-peasy trade deals that countries outside the EU were lining up to sign, the USA being first in the queue? How long before the pain starts to bite so hard that there is such a wave of discontent that the murmurs of the need to renegotiate the trade agreement becomes a deafening demand? How long after that will it be before the terms offered by the EU result in some kind of associate membership arrangement? How long will posters on here go on saying we must all be patient? When you have dug a hole this deep, and you are up to your neck in s***e, you aren't going to get out on your own. Johnson is on his way out. You can see whenever a politician's time is up. He is being squeezed from all sides, and the manoeuvring to replace him is already apparent. Who replaces him will be very interesting. By the way, the Shell "relocation" is a one off special situation unrelated to Brexit, and down to a major outside investor making demands about streamlining their structure. Only 7 jobs will actually relocate. So no comfort there for the Brexiteers. Edited by Wisbech Eagle (17 Nov 2021 11.58am)
