When it comes to our attacking options, none are obviously good. I would stick with Benteke despite his appalling record in front of goal this year. Now is not the time to take what's left of his confidence and snuff it out by dropping him for no recognised striker. If the alternative plan fails, and Benteke subsequently falters even as a hold up player, we'd be deep deep in the s***. (Which we are anyway). Maybe he shins one in v Bournemouth, plays well, and builds from there. Or maybe he just holds it up well, we win and that's enough. Dropping him is unwise.

Yeah, i think thats spot on, and think his luck might be about to change!

Benteke will score twice against Bournemouth

By the time the Sun is sinking, his demons will be slayed and his critics will dance with joy, like munchkins celebrating the death of The Wicked Witch of the West.

Bournemouth are not the best defensively only keeping a clean sheet in 1 of their last 13 games.
They have conceded 14 goals in their last 6 games.

If the right offer came in absolutely, I just can’t see it happening for him, he just doesn’t seem to anticipate anything inside the 18 yard box this season.I saw some footage of him when he was at Villa, the runs he made all over the pitch and into the box were unbelievable.

I don’t know what is going on in his mind, but I feel we have been truly mugged off...

Now that is spot on, hit the nail right smack on head with that post.

Almost certainly will be gone in summer probably at a loss whichever league we are in . Roy will stick with him because no other options, just hope he somehow scores a goal or two in next six games . Otherwise he will go down as one of our worst ever buys .

I think we're way past this now, sad to say. I've been rooting for him for so long now but it's just not happening. I have no problem at all with his game apart from the fact he can't score to save his life anymore, if it's a confidence thing, I honestly don't think dropping him can make it any worse, there's even a small chance of forcing him, psychologically, to prove himself. I think he's a good player, the rest of his game is excellent, his assists, his defensive play can be remarkably good and I'm not at all one of the people on here that thinks he's lazy or doesn't care about the club (one of the more ridiculous opinions on here). But he's our striker, he should be scoring goals, at the very least hitting the target and he's not unfortunately.

Saying that though, I think in hindsight he should have been dropped earlier in the season, at this point it is a risk with what he brings to the team in other areas. So should he be dropped for Sørloth? Your guess is as good as mine but I really think we should be looking to move him on at the end if the season. As I said earlier in this thread, despite how much he's paid, he must be f***ing hating his job at the moment, I'd love to see him go somewhere else and start scoring his arse off (even if it causes us problems next season) but it's just not happening here, for whatever reason.

Pretty much agree with everything else you said but not this, he was a huge part of keeping us up last season, so, worth the money in my book, he scored 15 goals in the league, Ian Wright only bettered that three times and two of those were in Division 2.

Since 2000 only Andy Murray, Clinton Morrison, Darren Ambrose and Andy johnson have done better. Source here [Link] . These are players most would call legends. So I think that's a bit of a silly thing to say.

Lot of money to spend on a one season wonder. Kept us up last season, but his lack of goals may send us down this season.

If we had bought a different striker with the fee and costs of Benteke we may well have ended up with someone who scored as many if not more last season and certainly more this season.

It's all speculation but when people comment that Benteke's goals kept us up, we wouldn't have been playing with ten men were he not there.

I am worried that we don't part with Benteke because he shows a sparkle of form ion the last few games, I don't wish him ill bit I wish us better

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

The EPL? You sound like a Johnny come lately tourist fan using this acronym. No offence intended but it just grinds my gears. It’s what the news anchors in non footballing countries call our beloved football league.
