The fact is that there are queries around imbalance of home and away performance. 6th in the table for away games and 18th in the table for home games. In case home performance would end around 11. or 12, overall position would be obviously 7th and this is not a big ask (being 11. or 12 for home performance).

I really like the way Palace play structured and nearly never knocked down at any game. However, grabbing only one point from tops 6 games at home (exclude last minute counter attack goals, all or one goal margin defeat) and additional having only one point from Brighton, Southampton, Cardiff is not acceptable.

I believe team has potential to make better if they can show that brilliant performance at away.

Not an educated one anyway.

Only taking the handbrake off when we're were mathematically safe (about 4 games from the end) and afterwards we were smashing the opposition to absolutely pieces, demonstrating a negative policy up until that point...

Yeah, you won't get an educated answer. Let's all stick with "I wuv Croydon Roy innit, e's one of our own coz da club told me so. You're all fick if you don't agree"

That's a solid, insightful approach and will in no way enable the powers that be to eventually relegate us as the fans aren't holding them to account beyond this "6/7/8/9 seasons in the premier league is good enough" nonsense.

It isn't. We should have been progressing to top 8 and would have done so easily this year if Roy's negative tactics hadn't managed only 1 point from fixtures against Brighton, Southampton and Watford. We'd have relegated Brighton to boot.

Wake up.

Why are you replying to me ?

It's Painter that asked the question.

Anyway, looks like you're in for another season of discontent next year...

It's a forum in the public domain mate, Painter can see it too.

'' Wake up '' ?? - Just because I don't agree with you ?? I can understand why people find your writing style offensive.

And you don't seem to get it - just because I'm pro Hodgson doesn't mean that I think he's perfect and that I'm blindly following some club propaganda.

'' Smashing teams to pieces '' at the end of the season - hardly. A dull 0-0 with Everton and then we edged out Arsenal, Cardiff and Bournemouth. Lots of goals yes, at both ends.

At the risk of repeating what I and others have been saying, we finished where we deserved to be. Periods without Zaha and a decent striker certainly hampered things but all clubs have injuries just that some have stronger squads.

As for the Brighton and Watford results - totally disappointing. But if we had beaten Brighton home and away and lost ( as most would expect us to ) at Arsenal and Man City, we would have the same number of points come the end of the season.

The club's objective next year is to finish in the Top 10. If that's not enough for you then as I said before, you're in for further disappointment.

I've not seen it mentioned that our target is top ten.

Anyway, I shan't be disappointed as I expect us to finish 14th next season after a disappointing summer in the transfer window and Hodgson slogging out his final year. This year was our chance to build and we f***ed it. I can see Brighton building and progressing now they've sacked their negative manager, we'll further regret giving them 6 points.

I agree, he is one of the best managers we've had.

That's what you get with a negative policy of 17th place or higher every year.

We are at very best ninth to tenth in league placings down to eighteenth at the worst ..much the same as all the other teams in and around us, we finally finished the season a lot better with regards to results due to good finishing which if we had been able to do earlier in the season may have provided us an eighth placing at the death, all in all it was a good effort in the end but you're right and wrong about the home form ....certainly in four of the games we deserved nothing at all due to being outmanoeuvred by much better players on the day and followed up by managers who had fantastic benches to totally take the piss, which I'm sure you are well aware of as we don't possess much in return and then the games where we really honestly should have got results by just simply sticking the silly ball where it belonged..and you know that too don't you

Hodgson is not negative, he is pragmatic.

I really think you should be "supporting" a top 6 side.

And I think that you should post something positive for a change instead of just insulting people. Simon Jordan and Mattteo yesterday and now ChrisGC today.

Please give it a rest

So you think we're good enough for ninth, but I'm getting consistently hammered for thinking 8th is a realistic target?

That seems reasonable.

It doesn't make sense that I should seek to follow another team when I'm the one with the positive ambition for the club I love.

Perhaps it is you and Bexley Eagle that should look for a club that matches your ambitions? Millwall perhaps?
