Well, I tip my hat to them on the passes, as I can't see how voting for that would square with the very core of civil liberties. Of course, you can't. It seems to me you would put your "right" to decide everything for yourself over anything else. As I am sure you know, civil liberties can sometimes be suspended at times of a national emergency, for instance in wartime. I realise that you think the current crisis is being massively overstated, but I don't, and it seems that those who actually take the decisions agree with me, and not you. You voted this lot in, not me, but I don't argue about the need to act together in a national emergency. For me, this is a war that demands a national effort to win it, and those who refuse to assist in that effort deserve all the condemnation that's coming to them. Until it's won, civil liberties take a back seat when they get in the way of anything that can help defeat the enemy. If they don't, defend them to your heart's content, but if they do, then do everyone a favour, stop being so damn self centred, and do what's needed.

As long as everyone says the right thing, and they shut people up for saying the wrong thing, then never. Who do you classify as "they"? I see no evidence at all that even the wildest conspiracy theory cannot find its way onto the public square. What some cannot do, is put them on every platform they like. As they have no innate right to do so, I fail to see why people get upset.

Anyone who describes this as a war is either a frigging idiot or a liar. It's insane hubris. You can't win a 'war' with a fecking airborne virus you....man, what's the point....it's what the guy wants.

Accepting the point it could never happen because one is the epitome of evil - would you say the same if it was Biden rather than Trump getting banned?

Note their. When I invite you into my house, you don't have to come, but if you do, then I make the rules. I have the rights, you the responsibilities. You can leave if you wish. I can ask you to leave if I wish. The reverse is true in your house. It's FB's house. Don't like it. Don't use it.

When an epidemic has the potential to claim millions of lives and requires a world-wide effort to beat it, then describing it as a war is entirely justified. It's the best way for people accross the world to visualise the scale of the effort required to conquer it. We are winning the war. We have developed new weapons and techniques. Unfortunately, some of the troops are refusing to fight. In other wars, such people would be shot, so consider yourself lucky that you might just be ignored for a while.

Ironically, it’s the people that fetishise the world wars and like to think they would do their duty for Queen and country that seem to have the biggest problem being asked to wear a piece of cloth over their nose and mouths while doing the weekly shop and don’t seem to want to take very simple steps to protect their fellow countrymen. Plastic patriots one and all.

A war we can win by getting an injection and staying indoors. Doesn’t sound too drastic.
