It can't get much worse with brexit, than the governments own body the ONBR revealing the economic damage will accelerate from next year and is far more harmful than any covid. Trade deals and freeports of little economic consequence. With all the other financial hits mainly excluded in the budget (6bn council tax increases announced today) one wonders how the average Brit will manage. Control of our waters not really what we envisaged you wouldn't rush to bathe in them or eat from them safely, the once prized Whitstable shell-fish industry now unsafe and relying on imports from the EU. It's all a s**t show, but then it was always going to be. One thing that would be justified, imo, is a 100%% brexit tax to be paid by the brexiteers only. Let the culprits pick up the bill.
I wouldn't pin all your assumptions on the OBR. So far its predictions have been wide of the mark, I am not saying they are wrong in this case just that their track record so far has been patchy to say the least.

He’s an example of what Clive James called The Barry Manilow Effect. No one anyone knows admits to liking him but he became very popular.

I was thinking, looking at Frost and his team facing the Brussels suits, who do these people think they are? It is NI peoples future, yet they are not even represented. Why are they treated in this way, and why do they put up with it? Who says anyway, that their people are against the protocol, polls suggest otherwise. They should tell us to get lost and the EU too if necessary.

Frankly, I don't think there would be too many broken hearts in England if they did, and then bu**ered off and declared Independence....Solve a lot of problems that!

This is really about the paperwork rather than the principle, apparently the EU has offered to scrap red tape on 80% of the imports which would pretty much solves the supermarket issues. I fully expect that after the usual grand standing both sides will declare victory. I don't care who gets the credit what matters is that they put in place a sensible process so that both sides can trade easily.

Yes, they should put the political willy waving aside and just get it done (for a change)!

This may not have anything to do with Brexit and more about fossil companies protecting themselves from the political impact of climate change. Just like tobacco companies moving away from cigarettes. Shell is now my gas and electricity supplier so diversifying into related industries maybe the way forward and their setup is currently complicated. Anyway I wont crow Brexit nor will I wail when a UK company moves to the EU. It's business and companies will do what they think is right for them rather than the politics.

Fossil fuels and high carbon? Shell have contributed more than many to the climate emergency, their imprint especially felt among poorer nations they pollute and pillage for profit. They are an ideal match for the present UK government.
