Whilst we have had an awful couple of games and have only won 1 of our last 7 matches, and that at struggling WBA who had 10 men, we are 7 pts clear of the relegation zone so not down there and cut adrift.

Hodgson has kept us up for 3 seasons on a relative shoestring so he has credit in the bank.I suspect that the manager's position has not been under consideration.

I think Hodgson's stolid brand of football did us well for a couple of seasons, but this season whatever was working with the defensive organization quite clearly isn't working now, and it appears that his one-dimensional game plan doesn't have the solution to our current dilemma, which is a leaky defence that can't keep a clean sheet, no matter how many square pegs he tries to fit into round holes.
Perhaps he will revert to type and have 11 behind the ball, the next few games should tell.
I hope the chairman has a successional plan in place, and a few names in mind, with a view to replacing Hodgson at the end of the season, because the role now needs some fresh input. The lack of response to the Liverpool thrashing was quite damning for Hodgson and his methods, and in the post match interview he looked lost, a look I remember from the Iceland game.
The reality is the manager always carries the can, not the players, irrespective of their individual performances.

After two minutes McArthur was limping. Kouyate is slow anyway, and Luka's running is like a fifty year old with a hangover, and we were totally overran in midfield, unsurprisingly. Villa didn't have to even run that fast to totally catch us out. It was usually at a canter.
Riedewald came on and ball watched. Eze and Zaha did not track back. PVA and Ward were appalling. Whenever Ward got the ball his control is so slow that a defender could always close him down. Benteke gave up on about twenty minutes. Our central defence may have been two posts in the ground for all of their manoeuvrability. Guaita is under seige and the only player I don't blame for how crap we are.
Ultimately, however, the buck stops at Roy. What are we now? One point from 5 games, having scored what? One goal is it? Everyone needs to wake up here. Roy, does need to go. The only thing that will save us is three of the worst teams ever. Which does look possible.

Did you watch the game? Zaha chased Grealish for 60 yards, ending in him putting off his shot in 6 yard box.
You dont seem to pay attention to much, its 5 points from the last 5 games, not one point.
You missed that Dann cant play in an attacking team, only a packed defense, he hasnt any pace to cover, even the refs run pass him.

Willo - this is the same WBA side we spanked 5-1 and the same Liverpool side we just got spanked 7-0 by at Home..!!

Difference in the intervening period - oh yeah a change of Manager.

As I said stats don't lie 2020; P33, W9, D7, L17, GD -24..!!

Any Managers position should be under consideration with a run like that..!!

What's your suggestion wait until we are in the relegation zone then act - writing is on the wall now Mate.

Oh yeah I forgot you've been happily predicting our relegation for the last 8 seasons, so that would probably suit you

Mate it's time to act and act now..!!

Suffering is part of the "privilege" of being an Eagles fan - and I've been doing it for decades, but this is one of the most frustrating times! Not going to repeat iterations of the sentiments here, but I would like to know what the Parish plan is regarding the team and coaching staff. I get the sense we are recruiting youth for the future and the new Academy will eventually give us a reliable pipeline of talent. Nevertheless, if you look at the current senior squad, it is not balanced properly to compete mid table and the coaching staff can't put enough lipstick on the pig to make us look any good. We clearly lack cohesion, on the pitch, we are lacking in leadership (Cahill excepted) and we are bereft of any inspired play. A complete rebuild is required from the top down. Big problem is that with Roy around, we have the definition of insanity and if you keep doing what you've always done - you'll get what you've always got! We excel in mediocrity and until we get new coaching management, we just have to keep on suffering ..... Survive this season, fiscal prudence and have a long term strategy starting next summer. No sense in thinking we can change horses mid stream for now, painful as it will be for everyone!

Brighton have only won once in the last 13 games, do you think Potter will be shown the door. I think he has only won 5 games in 2020, despite their wonderful attacking style, its a results business, as Howe learnt last year.

I believe that Potter who had a contract until 2023 has had it extended to 2025.

It’s simple...

You can’t sack the entire first team and start again (As much as we’d like to after the last few games). You can sack your manager and almost instantly get a reaction from the same players.

The stats show this isn’t a knee jerk reaction but a year of sustained poor results with a squad that should comfortably be sitting mid table but instead always has us looking over our shoulder.

I don't believe that I predicted relegation before the start of this season but as the season has progressed I have been increasingly concerned.

I have been proved wrong before and been happy to admit so on HOL.I certainly would be a very disappointed and an exceedingly irate 'Hombre' if relegation is our fate at the end of this season.
