The reality is that we won't be in that position so he'll stay until the end of the season. I'm sure the club are looking at suitable replacements now. They'll have to as replacing such a talent will take months.

In any case, we have to start preparing for life without our Wilf! He's the real deal, as we've all known and now the rest of the footballing fraternity have finally woken up to that fact. He's a winner who can carry a team and change games by himself so deserves to win things ... any maybe we might just do it with him this season! We'll see ...

Excellent post as always, mate.

And maybe he might just want to stay. None of us know is the only certainty.

While Premier League safety is our number one priority I disagree with your premise that if we are headed to safety by the January transfer window then Wilf will be on his way. We may be further along than that and pressing for European qualification and thinking about cup run(s). We have the squad for it. Yes, we should be looking to build a more balanced attacking side so that Wilf isn't the sole focus. I see this season as rivalling 1990-91 as our most successful ever and with Wilf it is eminently doable. Roy Hodgson seems to a manager that Wilf and the rest of the team trust and play for without hesitation. We are playing attractive, attacking football while defending stoutly and with purpose. IF we bang on to finish high up in the league with a cup under our belts who knows how far Roy in the manager's seat and Wilf, PVA, Tekkers and the rest can take us?

However, if I'm overly optimistic and the club struggle then Wilf will probably want a new challenge but won't leave Palace high and dry in January. He will see out the season and then quietly work with the club to secure the best possible deal for all concerned, which means the right club for Wilf, be it in England or on the continent at the right price for the club. Wilf also has a family so that will have to be taken into consideration.

He wants to play for CPFC; he loves being at CPFC; if we can do well this season he will stay at CPFC and even if we don't he will probably stay.
He earns great money, he is an international footballer who works close to his Family.
Some players see that as being enough.
Matt le Tissier was an amazing talent and he stayed put.
No reason why Wilf won't do the very same.

Getting a bit sick of this all now. Wilf has said he is happy, Roy is happy, sh1t, everyone is happy and yet there are still some predicting his leaving date from the club. Yet more pot stirring when its not even simmering, let alone reaching boiling.

Please just leave it alone and enjoy the season. Wilf is our player, rumours are he is negotiating a new contract (although I admit that could be paper talk), which if true means we will be able to ask an obscene amount of money for him in the future. He is worth far more to us than anyone else and has stated he is happy, so why should he leave?

You stick to your negativity mate. There are some on here who actually think we have a chance of getting into Europe next year. FFS we have a better team than Burnley, so why the hell not?

I understand the club's history of promising much and failing to deliver going back to the "Team of the Eighties." However, I believe this is a new era, with a lot more stability and cohesion. In Roy Hodgson we have a manager proven at all levels not only in England but throughout Europe. Wilf Zaha has the opportunity to be the best player this club has ever had, at that's saying a lot with the likes of Wright, Bright, Johnson, Byrne, Jackson and others in our past. This team has a lot of potential and if realised it can accomplish great things this season. Last season who knew from Wan-Bissaka. Who knew that Max Meyer would be signed by us and not some so-called big club? A page has been turned and I believe this Monday we will see it come alive at Selhurst Park against a highly touted Liverpool. Even though they beat the Spam 4-0 Palace has the tools to undo them and I am going to predict a famous 2-1 victory with Wilf and Tekkers leading the way.

There’s clearly a fine line between being a realist and negative in your world then? Has it not escaped some of you that we’re on the cusp of a major redevelopment of Selhurst. You don’t think that will shape some of our decisions in the not so distant future? I admire everyone’s optimism but one swallow (win against Fulham) doesn’t make a summer (expecting to qualify for Europe) ...

There's nothing wrong with being ambitious.

I for one think we can reach Europe.

We have a great squad and a very good manager.

Aim for the stars and if we don't acheive that then land on the moon.
