This is a pandemic. We need people to all get vaccinated. Stop the silly, selfish arguments and just do it. Trouble with this is that it breaks the maxim of 'if in doubt over something, see what Wisbelch pontificates about it and do the opposite'.

Incredibly socially liberal for someone born before WW2 ended....Incredible amount of mental energy for 77 with cancer. Obviously I could be mistaken but I pretty much doubt the honesty of most of what he writes.

When it comes to self righteous certainty about vaccination, and Brexit, and referenda there are a few on here who’ve exhibited it to a spectacular degree. When there is an overwhelming level of agreement between all the genuine scientific experts that vaccination is the primary pathway out of the pandemic, one person agreeing is hardly "self"-righteous, is it? I may well support it with passion, but I am hardly alone. My objections to referedums is less ususal, that's true, but I am not alone in that either and I think the folly of holding the Brexit one becomes clearer to many every day.

If it makes you feel any better I, and I don't think too many others, feel comfortable with this subject. I wish it wasn't sometimes the least worse option and would hope we can, as a society, arrive at a time when it isn't ever needed.

Indeed there are and certainly they continue to drag their self righteous indignation about Brexit into pretty much every discussion. When our stupidity in 2016 will negatively impact both the rest of my life, and that of my wife, my children and grandchildren, is it any wonder? Brexit was the UK's biggest political failure in my lifetime.

My mental energy comes from having always been tenacious and the knowledge that I am on the last few laps and the tyres are wearing thin. I disagree profoundly with your politics, but I never accuse you of dishonesty. If you lie, you are genuinely unaware of it and believe you are telling the truth. So I resent your constant attacks on my integrity. They are unfounded and unwarranted. You are mistaken.

Get vaccinated so we can protect the vaccinated against a mutated virus the vaccine is not designed for. The latest covid measures from this government demonstrate a political timeline to this pandemic as opposed to a medical one. Meanwhile were inventing a completely new medical condition to explain away the rather alarming number of heart problems people are suffering from the vaccines. Again ive had the virus, had worse colds my immune system is working great, im fit, healthy & good looking, there is absolutely no reason for me to expose myself to the chance of getting Myocarditis & being dead from it in 10 years for a vaccine that will make absolutely no difference to me when it comes to tackling the virus. The named professionals in that article all backing up the health issues raised by the surgeon in a previously linked video.....which was rather ruthlessly and as it turns out rather predictively inaccurately attacked by some in this thread. If those figures turn out to be correct it's a massive and criminal scandal on a near unprecedented scale.

Dan, grievances are fine. But those 2 statements are false. The 3rd jab offers protection to this omicron. (We hope maybe. But we can’t say it doesn’t) Getting vaccinated reduces amount of transmission on previous variants. If 100 people are vaccinated then it’s 60% or something unlikely to spread covid because they don’t have it. Many people say vaccines don’t work because the first 2 have worn off and they don’t reduce spread or do nothing at all because they don’t eliminate it. No in between. One or the other. People can believe what they like but if those in power can’t deal with the problem as it is then this either goes on and on or the variant we’re hoping for does make this like another cold/flu.

From what I can gather those statistics only come from the pharma companies themselves and I have to be honest I don't trust them. I agree that the vaccines appear to have reduced hospitalizations and we have firm evidence for that. However, I'm not convinced on the transmission reduction claims. However, it's not an argument against getting vaccinated, which should always be based upon a health risk assessment. Edited by Stirlingsays (13 Dec 2021 12.12pm)

You cant claim its false then go on to say you hope the old vaccine works in your next sentence. The other thing you highlighted I corrected to me personally as I could see it might imply I meant everyone you were no doubt already replying so missed it. If people want to get vaccinated then fine, im certainly no anti vaxxer but lets not fool ourselves here, the uk crossed the threshold for herd immunity a while back & were still here in more or less the same situation.
