As far as I can see the idea the military managed this is Government spin. Why decry the service we have all depended upon? When push comes to shove British people are good at taking initiative. And it’s roll not role. Just had my 2nd jab. The organisation has been excellent, totally organised by NHS as far as I can see. Not sure how you can say it’s Govt spin when Jeeagles appears to be the only one who mentioned it. Edited by Spiderman (18 May 2021 10.31pm)

The NHS pulling together and organising in a time of need. When I received my jab funnily enough the guy even said, imagine if this had been left to the government or others to sort. Credit to them.

I think Burnham is correct about speeding up the vaccine rollout. The best way to stop this spreading and possibly morphing into something else is to vaccinate as many people as possible. The 18-35 group is most at risk now because they haven't been offered it and they are the most likely to mix indoors e.g. pubs and nightclubs. The quicker everyone has been offered the jab the better. After that the refusniks are on their own. Edited by Badger11 (18 May 2021 4.38pm) It's a tricky one as it does seem to be the case that a longer gap is preferable in some ways. Still, rather a shorter gap not people not having both jabs. It's a shame, as you say, that those likely to increase the rate of spread haven't been vaccinated (people seem to fail to acknowledge that as a factor in a kind of 'im alright jack' 'it won't harm me' fashion). Speeding up the rollout gives everything the option at least, and then if people end up hospitalised through not bothering they only have one person to blame. Most people do the right and sensible thing at least. Edited by BlueJay (18 May 2021 11.03pm)

Apparently a kind of Government spokesman. 7 January. The Army will use "battle preparation techniques" to help achieve the vaccination goal.

It's the usual flag waving guff stuff rather than reality. Trying to invoke a 'feeling'. A bit like Theresa and her 'red, white and blue Brexit'. The facts on the ground show that the NHS did the job.

So why then complain about queues at Border Control? If we should protect our Borders that entails queues..right? I have always said we should have completely shut our borders but then you wouldn’t have been able to travel here, presumably you did as you complained about queues at Heathrow. So should we have shut the borders to everyone? You will be surprised how many people suddenly have to travel on urgent business and have to take family with them. Why did you travel?

I am surprised at the lack of government intervention over the mixing of red and other countries. A few weeks ago the government "asked" Heathrow to consider using terminal 4 for red countries. Asked? Heathrow and the airline should be Told they imported this mess into the country and have taken taxpayers money if they want to survive and have a 3rd runway they had better sort it out or else. The same goes with the airlines in theory they should be fined for not checking documentation before boarding very few have been which adds to the queues, time to get tough.

If you think Airport Authorities think more of the staff than passengers you are so wrong ( in fact they only think about money/profit). Staff accommodation is basic and rarely refurbished. Staff, who finish work at all hours, have to park well away from the Terminals, usually involving a bus ride to the car parks.

Edited by Badger11 (19 May 2021 7.39am) I totally agree with your first comments. It was always a mystery to me why, Immigration/Customs did have not have more control over such matters, bearing in mind that, without their presence, the Airport s cannot legally operate. Put it down to weak management or Government not bothered to intervene, perhaps they should not be privately owned. Gatwick is owned by a Nigerian! Edited by Spiderman (19 May 2021 8.09am)

My understanding was that the army would be responsible for the logistics / planning for moving the vaccine around the country. I assume this meant that AZ or Pfizer would deliver the vaccine to one location and then somebody would need to ensure it was broken down and sent to the various locations. The army may not have actually moved it just come up with the plan. As you know I volunteer at a vaccine centre I have seen the Army and Air Force medics loads of times they do a good job it's a pleasure to work along side them.
