100k a week cable seasoned international wages he's on. David gold just stated that. If he scored those goals two seasons running after becoming a marked man in his second season and his x rays were more pleasing then 100k would've been more understandable.

Here's a thought. Maybe he didn't want to come to little old palace. Apparently turned us down in the summer. So maybe AP thought F***k him.

Charlie Austin would have got a massive signing on fee probably similar to what he would have got had he been a free agent in the Summer at which time QPR would have got £0. Timing is everything and Saints got it right!

Still don't explain the quoted 15million price tag especially when he only had 6months on his contract anyway the only reason he would of been valves at 15million is if he signed a new contract of more than 4 years so someone most probably was talking crap which most probably coming from his agent or the press

These massive signing on fees are normally paid in installments over the life of the contract, so he could be on £50k a week wages plus £50k per week installments of his signing on fee, making £100k per week. If the player is sold before the signing on fee has been paid off the selling club have to carry on making these payments.

So if Austin's salary - however its made up, plus his transfer fee puts a 3 year deal somewhere in the region of 20m minimum. 20m upwards for 3 years of Charlie Austin...no wonder nobody wanted him.

He is NOT on 100k a week! Southampton fans have said they have a wage cap of 70k a week.
