Long way to go is going to be close, closer than certain people on here would like, must be dirty tricks in play. I'm watching quite calmly, so need for any concerns. Unlike Trump I am not suggesting that there are any "dirty tricks" involved in the voting process. Nor, so far as I can see, is anyone else. What puzzles me is why he feels the need to do that when on the face of it, it seems there is a very real possibility he will win anyway. It only reconfirms my opinion that this man is totally unit to hold the post of President as the consequences will be to stir up discontent and further divide the people. A real leader speaks with calm reassurance at this point. It all suggests to me that Trump knows he is probably just going to lose if he cannot get some of the votes thrown out. However, I reserve my opinions until we finally know what has happened! My overall sense though is one of sadness. The terrible divide in the USA is being further divided. The many good people there are being balanced by people whose values seem out of kilter with the modern world, together with some who have believed the lies about the intentions of the Democrats. That's not a healthy democracy and it sends a poor message to authoritarian regimes. Even if Trump is eventually removed questions will be asked as to how such a man, so clearly unfit to high office, came so close. Something is rotten in the state of Denmark!

They have to carry the post stamp of Nov 3 at the latest to be valid, but can be COUNTED after 3 November - typically for up to 3 days. Some states stipulate that counting of such votes cannot be started untl the physical election is closed. Wisconsin and Pennsylvania are exemples. Bizarre that the Republicans "expec"t massive fraud. One case from recent years in from North Carolina, the fraud carried out by a Republican! They are rather preparing for a defeat they won't accept. Pathetic antidemocrats. Good to know but still wouldn't happen in the UK. My comments are not party political fraud has always happen in US elections and by both parties but because Trump claims it happens it becomes news. The US really does need to sort this out with a Bi partisan commission but that is not going to happen anytime soon.

Whatever the outcome, the swing to Trump by minorities is incredible. Again, a little geeky but seen one particular county. ,000 average wages, 95% Hispanic. In 2016 Hillary won it by a 60% margine. This year Biden wins it by 5%. Of course the figures need to be finalised but this is pretty amazing given the narrative in the run up to it. It's amazing how much of the vote Trump has retained or gained, in spite of losses elsewhere.
I disengage, I turn the page. |

Interesting BBC headline at the moment "Trump Falsely Claims Fraud". How do they know? Trump has claimed fraud and so far has not produced any evidence to back up so it is an unsubstantiated allegation but that is not the same as falsely claiming. If it does turn out that there is fraud will the BBC retract their headline? The only way that headline is correct is if the BBC can produce hard evidence that he has lied they can no more do that than Trump can prove there is fraud (at this stage). It will take months and multiple court cases before we know if Trump is lying or is correct.

My inner geek is kicking in now. Trumps win in Florida is bloody interesting. Votes up amongst Latino voters and also claims he has got more votes from African-Americans. If that is replicated nationwide then absolutely remarkable. One aspect of the Florida result is that a fair percentage of the Hispanic population came from Cuba.

And this has been part of how 2020 has played out that has truly astounded me. Almost all the major civil unrest came in Democrat controlled cities. And solid control. Decades long. And Democrat Mayors telling their own police forces to stand down. Actually encouraging the violence. Beyond insanity.

If that is replicated nationwide then absolutely remarkable. The Latino swing is not really that remarkable - the republicans pushed the socialist angle against Biden and it’s worked, immigrants coming to the US to escape socialist leaning states have been persuaded to not vote Biden. It was predicted As for an African American swing, yes that is more interesting Personally I don’t care for either candidate - it’s the worst pair for years. Trump has little in the way of anything approaching morality, dignity or any virtue you’d expect of a half decent human being, and Biden is severely lacking in energy and conviction. The more trump sounds off his expected nonsense as this race gets tighter and tighter, the more I’d prefer for someone to just do us all a favour and turn him off. Infinitely better humans have been bumped off for much less.

It isn't really. American democracy has always been a sham. Given the amount of money allowed in, and the antiquated electoral college system, it has always been easier to game than win fairly. The depressing thing is that many on the right are only now shouting injustice when their billionaire kleptocrat poster boy is on the verge of defeat. Either have principle or don't complain. How do you game when each state has its own electoral rules?
