Yes; they can. Tommy Robinson made one. If evidence exists then let him bring it to an appeal, walk free, be compensated and see those who did the falsification put behind bars. Assertion and innuendo are evidence only of bias and wishful thinking, so let's see something real.

Exactly – the Attorney General wants a result here. Trial without jury! The AG wants a rabble rousing trouble maker who thinks he can flout the law to face justice, and be clearly shown to face justice so lessons be learned. As that is his responsibility he has done nothing more than the job he is paid to do. This is not political interference or persecution. It is the law insisting it applies to all.

That unctuous display toward the judiciary is fooling no one. You can't be that naive surely. Of course judges cannot be swayed to do the bidding of politicians. It is ridiculous to even suggest such a thing. What they can do is consider public interest arguments raised by the government and presented to them in the correct way. The decision on whether to accept that argument and act upon it, or dismiss it as inappropriate, rests entirely with the judges. That's not political inference. That's the government raising questions of public interest for the judiciary to consider. The government cannot instruct. They can only ask.

Judges of whatever stripe are never influenced by any political circumstance in the land. I think you are a parody.

Robinson asks Trump, begs even for political asylum in US. 'I beg Donald Trump, I beg the American government, to look at my case,' he said. 'I need evacuation from this country because dark forces are at work.' He states, 'this is a direct appeal on behalf of my family – we love the United States, I have no future here [in Britain],' he added. 'The country has fallen.' I support every single word Robinson says here and I hope Trump uses this opportunity. I've been saying that getting out of the country has been the best option for a while now for Robinson.....obviously there have been people in his ear suggesting that.
I wondered a few posts ago how long it would be before "Robinson" started to play the martyr. Not very long is the answer. What a joke! Given Trump's propensity for making stupid undiplomatic gaffes (remember him recommending Farage as our Ambassador) and the current furore over the leaked emails which give a pretty clear indication of what at least one professional diplomat thinks of him, it will be interesting to see where everything falls. It will be particularly interesting to see how the UK responds to Trump's expected sympathy for "Robinson" and whether they now distance themselves from him having got the messy business of his state visit out of the way. After all Trump is temporary. The USA is permanent. Of course "Robinson" won't succeed with this. He knows it and is just acting the martyr. Mind you as the country would be a much better place without him maybe we should let him go and provide assisted passages for all those who support him. After all we used to transport criminals to the colonies so why not for those who support criminals? I am sure the proud boys would be there to welcome you all, with MAGA hats to make you feel part of the gang. They might even have them in big enough sizes to fit! I didn’t mean him - I meant six people sentenced to life sentences on shaky evidence, the injunction issued against Channel 4 to prevent showing parts of the evidence against them and the successful law suits against the Sun and Sunday Telegraph for printing parts of the evidence.

I would certainly recommend Maine to TR. Lobster,Protestant, Most people are of English descent, over 90% white, Low income tax, very decent sales tax. One resident with TDS but apart from that all good. And Stephen King lives there so TR has a natural biographer.

As we are discussing the justice system in the UK that response has no merit at all. The parody here is therefore entirely your own creation. As I am quite certain you are well aware the system in the USA bears little or no comparison to ours. There the political leaning of Judges are not only known, they are considered when making appointments. Trump has taken that to a new level in his determination to weight the Supreme Court with conservative Justices. Look at Gorsuch! Trump's firing of an AG who would not do his bidding and his replacement by one who will just points up the huge differences now being exploited by the most inept POTUS in history. Past Presidents have at least appeared to try to maintain some balance and appoint on merit. I hope we never put one step down that road and continue to maintain the total separation between the politicians who make the law and the legal system which administers it.

A much better place for grooming gangs! Wrong! With "Robinson" out of the way the Police and the Courts could get on with their jobs without being concerned that a self opinionated, attention seeking rabble rouser might torpedo their work by offering guilty men an excuse to walk free.

Absolutely hilarious state of affairs. Goes running scared when the going gets tough. Let him go and take all his cultish lemmings with him.
