I apologise for using the wrong determiner.
The re curriculum at primary level is about beliefs and practices of different religions.

Whether theological arguments about what prophets are false according to what scripture I don't know.

But teaching kids that Muslims use pbuh is not leftist political dogma. You are really really clutching at straws.

How religious ideas are presented to children in a school should be handled extremely sensitively.

If my child came home to me saying what you described I would be concerned. I'm not so certain as Nick is in how ideas are presented in school. Many teachers are professionals but not all teachers. Some are pretty poor when comes to keeping their own personal agendas out of what they teach over time....though I can say that in the schools I've worked in I never saw a problem with RE...as they use to call it.

Edited by Stirlingsays (01 May 2017 5.51pm)

Years ago in my RE class someone brought up Zionism. What they said I can't remember. The teacher had a Polish surname and a Jewish bias, saying the land was originally their's. Wasn't part of the curriculum. Only things like beliefs, religious holidays and customs were.

So, the letter from my daughter's primary to all parents telling them the school budget will be £40k lighter next year is fake. Thank fvck for that.

I will pass on the news. Thank you, Matthew.

It probably doesn't exist. I don't believe much you post on here. Most of it is said for effect to try and 'win' debate - for example your 'evangelical chum' and all of the 'black mates' you had in Croydon.

This is why anyone with common sense and concern for their children and grandchildren should not vote for liberal left candidates who would agree with you.

letter to parents re funding cuts March 2017

9th March 2017

Dear Parent/Carer,

School Funding Changes

You may have seen or read about the ongoing situation with school funding on the news recently so I am
writing to update you on how these issues impact upon our school.
The government are changing the way that money will be allocated per pupil (this is the new
National Funding Formula). The NFF aims to spread funds more evenly regardless of geographical
location. Whilst we agree that this is a fairer way to fund schools, what is clear is that the
Government does not have enough money in the system for this to happen without many schools
losing out.
The amount that Hollymount will receive per pupil is forecast to reduce (an average £210 in
Merton). This means that in 2018/19, Hollymount will face a £100,000 reduction on its current
budget of £1,500,000.
The school's costs are going up; National Insurance and pension contributions, utilities and
services have all increased significantly. From April 2017, all schools will have to pay a 0.5%
Apprenticeship levy.
As you can see, the school is facing significant financial challenges and I wanted to share this with you
so that you begin to understand why things will inevitably have to change as a result of this.
I will of course be working with governors to ensure we do whatever we can to limit the worst effects
of the cuts and Robert Hatley, Chair of Governors, and myself are due to meet with our local MP,
Stephen Hammond so that he is aware of the negative impact such cuts will have on our school. I
would also encourage you to get in touch with your local MP to ask them what they are doing to
protect schools in the area and also sign the petition which has been set up online at [Link]
You can also find more information at [Link] a parent-led website (leaflet
attached).

You could also support by responding to the DFE consultation (by 22 March 2017):

I am sorry if this letter makes for some difficult reading however I feel it is important to let you know
of the challenges we are facing at the school with regards to funding so you can better understand
what is happening. As ever, I am very grateful for the support parents give – in a myriad of ways – to
our school.

Yours sincerely,

Philippa Jackson
Headteacher

People can stick their heads in the sand over this and deny it. That's their prerogative.
But the cuts are happening, they are going to leave schools in the s*** financially and staff redundancies will affect the quality of Education.
So if you are happy about this happening, vote Tory.

So you agree with the stats to support your own argument?

There are valid reasons why lending went up, easily supportable but no one seems that interested.

I take it you have an in depth knowledge of the national curriculum and what being a teacher is actually about?

Very convenient, that.
