He's from Poole. Location big factor. Agent probably gave Saints a nudge

Anyone thought that maybe we did go in for him but he decided on Southampton instead?

Thank goodness that's done. At least it'll end the throng of HOL posters who understand little to nothing about the economics of football telling us a). Austin will never move in January because he's so greedy, and b). QPR won't sell for less than 15 million quid. As I wrote in this thread over two weeks ago... Quote sydtheeagle at 04 Jan 2016 10.36am
Bottom line is that Austin will almost certainly move in January. ...Yes, everyone may publicly demand this and that when it comes to money and fees but these things get resolved. This was always going to happen. It's not remotely surprising that it has.

£4m??
No maybe about it, the £4m is just QPRs cut. The player's signing on fee would be more like £7m to £8m bearing in mind if he'd waited till summer he could have pocketed the whole transfer fee.

He is a huge problem player, why do you think nobody snapped him up before.southampton has taken a risk on him, not because of his ability but because they needed a forward.wether he sorts himself out will be seen, but his a liability, and being back in his comfort zone stop him doing stupid things. Having said that would had loved him .

Apparently 4m was the cut price after Southampton waved the Caulker call back fee!

Having said that would had loved him . The only liability is his knees and he has had that problem for years. Hull ditched him after a medical, QPR stepped in and reaped the rewards. No reason why this could not happen again. No doubt salary would be high but the length of contract might of also been a factor, then again he is 26 years old so 4.5 years make sense. Can see the up sides and the down on this player.
