I agree with you, they should have been left to go under and bankers jailed but the government has now been paid back. Irrelevant bud as 'We the people' are still being put through the wringer 10yrs later while the financial sector are once again posting record profits. All i ever see on this site is 'capitalism'. Never the word 'crony'.

Never the word 'crony'. I suppose they used the magic money tree when they bailed out the banks, but when it's really needed for housing and public services you can't get money from the money tree, where's it going to come from? Then when Conservatives got a kicking in the election and needed to bribe the DWP, all of a sudden 1bn suddenly appears - could it be the magic money tree?

I don't think any state should be able to take half of anyone's earnings, especially when they're so terrible at using it in any kind of efficient or effective way. And seeing as he's not taking anything out of the system, at all, why should he help fund it? Even though he'll still actually be paying far more into the UK system than 90% of people. Wasn't born here, doesn't live here, doesn't want to pay tax here. Nothing very british about that!

Where his dad worked multiple jobs, where he was schooled and where his dad paid for him to race on private tracks have no correlation to where he is now. Taxes don't provide jobs, they take your income from them, and they certainly don't pay for track time or the equipment required. School has nothing to do with any of it, but that would've been contributed towards by the tax his parents paid as with any other child. No one pays for their own state education.

The best solution is limited government and leaving the EU. Former President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso is the non-executive chairman at Goldman Sachs. Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder is chairman of Russia’s biggest oil producer Rosneft. George Osborne works for asset manager BlackRock, one day a week for £650,000-a-year. etc etc etc Edited by Penge Eagle (24 Oct 2018 1.51am)

I don't think you understand my point. Ive never blamed immigrants for trying to better them selves, I blame government. Government failures to build enough housing stock have pushed up house prices so most of MY disposable income now goes towards my housing. I then get asked to Vote, IN or OUT. I voted OUT because of OUR Government failures not immigrants. But the left keep banding Racist around, they just don't get it. Would a business employ more workers if it didn't have the facilities to look after them ? No! Just to clarify here; you voted out to put more power in the hands of the government who have failed so badly? How do you think these failures will be improved post-brexit?

You'd end up with loads of bankrupt pensioners. My parents live in an affluent Surrey suburb and they paid about £8,500 for their house some forty years ago. The house is now approaching your target value of £1m but my 91 year old mother couldn't afford to pay any more Council Tax out of her pension and I'm guessing that her whole road is in a similar position This is incredible - an asset which has increased in value over a hundredfold in 40 years through nothing but lucky timing, and you’re quite literally pleading poverty.
