No I meant really things like nobody in hospital with omicron or it hasn’t killed anybody. Points and objections are fine. Everyone is allowed a point of view. Not when it’s drawing on false rubbish or not what the point is in the first place. I think attitudes are changing because people are just tired of it all. We were told to follow the science.

I just don't agree with that mindset. But that's where we are I suppose. Edited by Stirlingsays (09 Dec 2021 1.18pm) I’ve seen the split in demographics of unvaccinated and you’d think being at risk or family at risk they’d get vaccinated after a year of vaccinations. But no, so we end up going this way.

I'll just repeat again: The (not fully trialled til 2023) vaccine is licenced for emergency use ONLY - therefore they have to concoct one form of emergency or another or stop the vaccination programme. Simples....

When I was young the English were said to have a stiff upper lip......in truth it's incredibly wobblily.

The statistics show absolutely no argument for 'going this way', in my view anyway. As for the Omicron variant.....all this wait and see....you seriously think it hasn't been here for a while? I suspect it has. The SA doctor who found it described a process that seemed very incidental. Edited by Stirlingsays (09 Dec 2021 1.52pm)

Edited by Stirlingsays (09 Dec 2021 1.52pm) They do depending on how you project them, which is of course what it comes down to. The SA charts clearly show hospital cases rising sharply but there's not enough time elapsed or data available to determine what is an overreaction, so the only option is to err on the side of caution. Plus, it can't of been here for a while (if by a while you mean more than 2 weeks) as the case count would have started rising much earlier, if you use the SA data as a benchmark, which you have to, even though it can't be a straight comparison for various reasons. I get that you'd rather this whole thing have been old and frail locked up while everyone else went about their daily business to prevent rights being eroded (albeit temporarily) but ultimately that's too much ideological and not enough science influencing your standpoint in my opinion. Do I like being mandated? No. But if the general trend and science support it I can make my own informed decision and be happy with it.

I'm going to say something controversial here.....stand back...or sit down if you prefer. I can't say I really trust figures coming out of SA.....there I've said it. Generally I think that if you start more testing than before.....then you're going to find more infections....let's just say that I'm skeptical. As for science....I think my entire attitude has been led by the death numbers...those I can trust....and my attitudes towards acceptable risk versus what makes economic sense. At the very beginning I was very cautious and I'm recorded on Hol supporting treating things very seriously....but that was for something I feared would be much worse than a one percenter.
