The "top 6" are untouchable in terms of revenue and spending power, unless another club gets taken over by a sovereign wealth fund (Norway anyone?) to use as publicity without any concern about losses. Only 19 teams on that list have more seasons than us, and that includes 7 clubs who are now not in the Premier League. There are a number of posters here who need to get a sense of perspective. The whole tenor of this board has changed since we have had a long spell in the top division. We have no divine right to be here, and all 14 teams outside the top six are in danger of being relegated at any time. Yes I know some here are bored with the "I've watched Palace for 50+ years in all divisions" group, but at least we are supporters who watch the club wherever they are in the league. There is a generation of fans who have grown up knowing nothing but the Premier League, grown up watching wall to wall football on tv, and think that life only exists in the Premier League. Will I disappointed if we get relegated? of course I will. Will i still support Palace? of course I will. Look again at that list of 49 clubs, and enjoy what we have whilst we have it. We are more successful now than we have ever been. We have some of the best players we have ever had. The moaning that goes on here is just unbelievable. Rant over, feel free to throw things. Every football fan has their take on things, it’s a view from their own perspective. Now I haven’t followed the club for 50 years yet, but I have seen more lows than highs for sure, so we have a lot more to grumble about than a lot of fans of other clubs...

Walker at Man City, Benteke, Sakho even Cabaye was on more when we got him for £10m. AWB is a pretty poor wage deal considering. Man United are the winners. Parish backed down, AWB accepted less than he deserved. That's my summary. AWB’s wage will rise as he proves himself.

Good on Parish sticking the boot in and getting a sell on clause. The top clubs need to be a little bit more giving in these deals. Without the lower clubs there would be no league. We don’t survive on nothing. We need a good deal to keep the premier alive and competitive. Liverpool gave us such a rotten deal with Benteke and sahko. Looks like SP has learnt well. Blooody northern b*******s.

And what do you propose to do to stop the board doing what they want then ? My guess is sweet F.A. You did mention giving up your season ticket - good, there's a waiting list for them so you have the chance to make someone happy. You talk about a lack of ambition - ok, would you care to share what you think Palace should be aiming for and how you think they can achieve it ?
Sure. Sell the club to richer owners who have a desire to win something. Improve scouting and stop wasting money on poor players. Get the ground redeveloped properly. Buy/build a better training facility. Stop selling your best talent to PL rivals. Man City was a nothing club and look where they are now. Money talks.

I agree with you, only we have major US shareholders that don’t want to invest and our scouting and recruitment apart from a couple of windows has been poor. Again, that is partly why we’re in the financial position we’re in, we’re hamstrung on transfer activity and have to sell to buy. Also, as you know, getting new owners isn’t that easy, and your plan of living by off loans only because we have practically nothing to spend with and keeping every single good player isn’t a concrete plan because you can end up with some right wastes of time and space.

So you basically want Palace to be another Chelsea / Man City ? You make it sound so simple - but it isn't. We already have billionaire owners. On the face of it, their contribution has been minimal. And now they want to sell their shares and that has been the case for some months now. Despite a few rumours I have seen no evidence of a serious offer being made. Improve scouting - yes, that certainly needs to be done and should be achievable. But first I think there has to be recognition within the club that it is actually an issue - not seeing that at all. There has been a shift in how they go about their business but it's still all reporting into DF. Get the ground redeveloped - as you well know that is work in progress albeit at snails pace. You can't just wave a magic wand and it happens. The Academy is being invested in - I'm not aware of a burning requirement to replace the training ground. Are Man Utd our '' rivals '' ? I think not. Money talks indeed and potentially new ownership could address some of what needs to be done. But at the moment we have the same ownership as a year ago and we are where we are. One of the big differences is my mentality v. yours is that you seem to struggle with the reality of the situation as it is now.

The sooner they sell the club better now. Yep. But how long that’ll take in real life is guesswork. We cannot rely on getting by on loans.

Time will tell and if we are bottom 3 at Christmas after selling AWB and Wilf, who’s going to say “ you know what this wasn’t such a great move” Selling those 2 isn’t going to make us a better side for sure, and let’s not forget how s*** our home form has been for 3 seasons now. Away from home Wilf was our get out of jail free card and we won’t have that luxury anymore. We are nailed on to get relegated.... I think it’s a bit premature to start talking about relegation. I’m sure the fans of the three sides who came up have a lot more to worry about than we have as do probably Brighton. Clearly whether Wilf goes or not we are going to need several additions to the squad and I’m sure they will arrive in due course. Still six weeks to go so no need to panic yet.
