This post has been merged from a topic called 'Roy Age Issues' by Midlands Eagle The time has come to introduce Roy's replacement. I say this because he is in his early seventies (same as me)and like me could pop his clogs at any time. If that happens where is the club? In crisis again? Some jobs which call for candidate with specific experience to handle a specific project will require the the successful candidate to step down when reaching a specific age, often 70. I have been in such a job and whilst I know I am still more than capable of doing the job properly my boss was concerned about clog popping and the potential damage to his project, hence the step-down age requirement. It also allows for an uncomplicated handover as the 'old fart', i.e Roy (or me) still has the marbles to hand-hold the handover to another.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Roy Age Issues' by Midlands Eagle I get the argument but my understanding is his contract only runs for another season. I feel it’s the right thing to do (both for the club and morally) to see this contract through before assigning a successor this time next year.

Roy job has been to keep us in the PL which he has and is to date doing, playing any other way needs considerable team investment and at present that seems just not to be there!, you just cannot make a silk purse out of a sow's ear?

When allowed to play with freedom our boys smash the opposition. We need a striker and an AM in the summer. Sack ole turkey chops off and let's go for it. Can't keep playing negatively and expect positive results. Let's be positive and go for it, thanks and bye bye Roy, top 8 here we come!

I don’t think you can compare elite level football to other business and just because you plan a successor doesn’t mean they are going to be any good. Roy still still seems a sharp and articulate man. You don’t earn the respect of a headstrong squad of footballers by being an old fart. Ray Lewington has worked with him for many years and is ten years younge at sixty two. I hope we remain a steady premier league club capable of surprising the plastics and they both continue for a fair while longer.

Barcelona have done succession management pretty well to be fair, although that might be the exception that proves the rule.

We have the best man for the job in Roy. I hope he signs a contract extension for a few more years. And it's desperate that people are saying he should leave because of his age. He is bright as a button and his age has absolutely nothing to do with anything. I'l repeat what I have said on here many times after a lot of folk on here knocking Roy and saying get in the likes Howe, Dyche, Hughton, Wagner. If anyone can tell me that Roy is not a better manager than all 4 of them then Id tell them they are mad. Roy is an easy target because of his age and his nice manner. Open your eyes folks and get his off back and support him because it will be a sad day when he leaves.
