Mark my words. Those figures are not far wrong. [Link] Of course it's politically motivated. Starving schools of funds so they have to lower the quality of kids education is a political act. A lot of 'education' these days is political eduction, force-feeding kids with liberal/left dogma - political madrasas.

I will pass on the news. Thank you, Matthew. You are aware that it has always been Labour policy to overspend and borrow, so it is hardly a surprise that the Tories always have to cut back.

One of the most oft repeated "economic" arguments posited by Tory party supporters is the "didn't Labour leave a note admitting there was no money left?" question, which is often used in conjunction with the absurdly counter-factual "Labour bankrupted Britain" narrative. The first thing to note about this question is that the note that was left by Liam Byrne saying that "there's no money" was intended as a joke, not as a serious statement of fact. The joke being a reiteration of the 1965 note left by the Tory Chancellor Reginald Maudling for his successor Jim Callaghan that said "good luck old cock, sorry to leave it in a mess".

Asked why she was saying that, she said it was what they were taught to say in school.

Next time she may tell her parents about Jewish Passover or why Sikh men are allowed to carry a knife for religious reasons.

Blah blah blah. The Tories are paying back the debt Labour created.

Mohamed is not 'the prophet', he was an Islamic prophet, and according to the Christian religion of the girl, a false prophet at that. However, of course the school does not mention that.

How religious ideas are presented to children in a school should be handled extremely sensitively. If my child came home to me saying what you described I would be concerned. I'm not so certain as Nick is in how ideas are presented in school. Many teachers are professionals but not all teachers. Some are pretty poor when comes to keeping their own personal agendas out of what they teach over time....though I can say that in the schools I've worked in I never saw a problem with RE...as they use to call it.
