Hard to believe that will get planning permission.

I like the ideas and I sincerely hope they go ahead, but there are so many ifs and buts I'm not even going to think about it until it happens. As ever, instead of, at the very least, giving Sainsbury's a look at the plans, talking to the residents and sounding out the council, we are trying for the battering ram approach. It didn't work for the modest plans for the training ground and I fear that it won't work for these major changes. For a man who owned a company in the industry, SP appears to be woefully deficient in his understanding of PR; perhaps he was more of a bean-counter than a creative?

We haven't even got ownership of the car park land we need to build the main stand on before people get carried away with 2nd tiers on the wh end.

The 4 houses on Wooderson Close aren't in the right place and have been moved back on that model. He couldn't really not have them there! They HAVE TO GO for this plan. I don't know about the other 12 in 2 rows of 6.

I doubt building will start this time next year. Parish said we'd do it if we got relegated this season or next season so there's a clue. May take longer to get started than that. Maybe a lot longer.

Like the look of the new stadium, about right capacity wise. Not sure about the more seats you have the more will come.
West Ham United is a case in point. They have had a 30000 increase and are seeing attendances drop off.
The official figures they publish and the amount of people that turn up to games seem vastly different.
They are seeing a real increase of about 12000 less than half the extra seats they have now many of the extras are cheap tickets to kids and give always. Be interesting to see how many will turn up if they wind up in the championship.

This article from Inside Croydon is worth a look:

"...the scheme would also require the demolition of seven houses, on Wooderson Close..."

"The scheme is large enough that it would also have to be referred to the regional planners working under the Mayor of London at City Hall"

“They know there’s local elections coming up, and Steve O’Connell, the Tory councillor, is close to the club boardroom,”

“They must think that they can railroad this through planning in a hurry now, because the council wouldn’t dare be seen to undermine a scheme which benefits the local football club. But things are never that simple.”

"Palace are claiming that the stand will take three years to build. Tottenham’s £800million new stadium is being built in half that time"

But Spurs' stand is being done whilst it's not in use and the matches are being played somewhere else!

Is there any chance the plans outlined are the first salvo in a negotiation? That we know we won't get this?

I think that may prove to be a minor point.

CPO's will deal with the houses and the strip of car park...the ball is now in Sainburys court

I love the use of "railroad". Like a football club these days can behave like it's 19th century America.

This is true, but it took them 3 years to move on the Steel manufacturing business which ultimately burnt down(?) and also its far easier to flatten stuff on a derelict site which isnt being used then it would be to build whilst the area is being used.

Spuds built a lot of the structure off to the side before the relocation happened.

Sainsbury's Selhurst Park should do it.
